As you guys know, my work as a session musician takes me to many wide and varied musical destinations. One day I am tracking guitar and bass, the next I am doing voice overs for a training video or public service announcement, the next I may be providing backing vocals for a solo artist's project. Every day is different and my work crosses a wide variety of genres, even Spanish language musical projects...In November of 2018, I signed on with So-Cal Christian Studio Project "Outfall." Here's our latest studio production - a cover of "Everlasting God." I am singing lead and backing vocals and playing all guitars and the phenomenal drum arrangement is courtesy of Robert Phillips.
I genuinely HATE my voice, but it's the only one that I have.
I put Easter Eggs in this recording for you guys!!!!!. The bass line (played on a Geddy Lee signature Fender) was arranged "on the fly" in a single take, and contains some rudimentary country/jazz fills. Listen closely and you will hear me singing harmony a full two octaves above my singing voice. The main solo has a country lick in it, consisting of a half step bend, followed by plucking the unfretted b/e strings...inspired by John 5.
The speaking voice was performed by engineer/producer extraordinaire Jeffrey Cramer.
The entire production was recorded on Cubase Pro. My Line 6 HD75 was used for all guitar parts when studio-owned JCM-800 went down.
It's the first song in this link posted below: - "Everlasting God."
