So Anyway...

So anyway, I have not been around here much, or on any other forums. Mostly, I 've been busy trying to get things done before the first of 2 carpal tunnel surgeries on both hands starting next week. It is from work, very computer intensive AutoCAD work.

The last 2 weeks I haven't played at all as the scheduling worked out as I was to start the long overdue bathroom renovation, along with everything else. Same layout tiny space. Replace corner shower and sink /vanity, new floor and base molding. I'm handy but not expert in any of these trades.
The vanity was delivered damaged and the replacement came yesterday, so starting tomorrow afternoon I will try to finish up through the weekend.

Sorry to hear about the carpal tunnel surgery. That stinks. Heal quickly.

I applaud your bathroom reno. Way over my head. My abilities in those areas doesn't extend very far past working on and repairing mechanical things like cars and mowers and such. I am neither a carpenter or plumber.

Sorry to hear of this…stick with the physical therapy post surgery. I had a tendon re-attached many moons ago, and did my PT alongside a few post surgery carpal tunnel patients. We all did well as time went on. They may have you do some weird stuff, like the Velcro checkers set, but it worked for me and the others. Maybe think about getting an electric toothbrush, if you don’t already have one…that was one of the worst things post surgery, brushing my teeth….until I got an electric…

So, still working on getting my late mum's house ready to put on the market in mid-August. That, and working full time, overtime, and a pretty full set of hands with other stuff.

You'll probably not see much of me still other than the occasional (y). Definitely no real content or other shenanigans. That's why I've pretty much fallen from the face of the Earth lately.

We do have a gig that will be a tribute show for our old drummer on July 28, but that's about all on my social calendar unless I get lucky with all the work that needs to be done at the house. The gig should be fun. I don't have all the details yet, but it will be at The Burren in Somerville, and The Classic Ruins are definitely on the bill. It's all bands that Matt was in at some point in his life. It's just tough as with some of his old bands, the other members have also passed away.

Heavy post, John. I might pm you before we head to England on Saturday. Might need transpo advice for around Heathrow to our hotel in Waterloo.

Where's Waterloo? I only use public transportation when I'm around London. I don't like driving on the wrong side of the road. It's also stupid to drive inside of London city limits, as there is no (or very expensive) parking, additional taxes and tolls for congestion, emissions, and any other excuse they can for throwing additional taxes onto your rental car fee. That and the bicycle riders are utter twats. Depending where you're staying. The Paddington Express from Heathrow to Paddington Station is reasonably priced and very quick. From there you can take the Tube or a Taxi to wherever you're going. Even if the next destination is to catch a train from King's Cross or other stations.

Thank you John.

Kathy has a big " planned" guided tour type excursion for us. She has multi city bus trips planned which have hotels set up for us each day.

However, we arrive at Heathrow approximately 8 AM London time, Sunday. We are slated to check into a hotel called the Park Plaza Waterloo Sunday June 30.
This is where she tells me that I believe that the Bus Excursion people can transport us to that hotel for 110 pounds. Or she said we could take the tube I think. The big issue there is luggage and us being foreigners to the geography.

Once we get to that hotel and stay overnight, the tour begins on Monday July 1 where we begin to see Stonehenge, Bath, Wales, July 2, and go to different hotels on each leg of each day's journeys. We do Wales Cardiff, Ireland, from July 3-5, Edinburgh Scotland July 5-6 July 7-8 More Scotland, York, and July 8 York, Stratford upon Avon/ London ( Back to the Park Plaza Waterloo hotel.)

Then Kathy has to go to work at a college called Harlaxton in a town called Grantham I believe we stay at a place called Angel & Royal Hotel in Grantham, then 3 more nights at Harlaxton Manor until July 12. On July 13 we are slated to go to Brighton to visit Ramo and will be taking the train. The question will be if we get a hotel to stay in Brighton and head back to London Sunday AM, or do we get a hotel near Heathrow for July 13 and make the short trip to airport? She has that question TBD- To be determined.

Kathy and I arrived in London a couple hours ago. It is now roughly 1PM but just shy of 8 AM Maryland time. We caught the Underground from Heathrow to Almost our proper stop. Exited the tube at Westminster Station and saw Big Ben, Parliament, the Thames and loads of tourists. It turned out that the Hotel location she plugged into her smart phone was Park Plaza Westminster and not Park Plaza London Waterloo that we are staying at. Of course our room isn't ready till 3PM. But we are safe and dry and refilled on our lack of coffee Saturday till today. Time for a nap till our room opens.
