So Anyway...

I have an old Mitituyo digital caliper from 1980s. It was one the the early solar powered ones. The rechargeable, non-replaceable battery died long ago. Nobody makes a replacement since, well, it was never meant to be replaced. Throw away calipers by design. So anyway, when I need to measurement something I either take it outside during the day or bring it close to a window that has sunshine coming in. No nighttime measuring for me...

So, anyway I mentioned I had a failure in my Silkyn Super 50.
Troubleshooting revealed a failed almost new Tung Sol 6L6 STR, which I chose for the higher plate voltages capabiility.
The Silkyn anode voltage is 484v.
Sat. I had time to swap in the OEM pair of Sovtek 5881/6L6GWC and re-bias.
I have put at least 4 hours on it - volumes not above 3 mind you, all is well.

I emailed Tube Depot to advise them of a premature failure in that batch, as it is beyond warranty.
I asked for a free replacement anyway ( why not ask?) or at least a substantial discount on another tube, matched to my remaining good one.
They offered me 30% off so I have replacement on the way.

Electrical outages is sometimes the source of our California wildfires. Heavy winds in the hilly areas move the towers and the power lines around. The power lines land on the dry vegetation. And with the aide of those strong winds, all Hell breaks loose...
That crossed my mind when the transformer in my backyard sparked like fireworks. I have woods behind my home.

Some acoustic fun today. The track is not sped up, but as usual, I was.

Hey I think I recognize that tune...from the band "Extreme" but I forget the title. That actually sounds really nice Ray...it sounds like you're playing a Martin guitar.:) You're definitely a good strummer and that's not always easy to do. What recording program do you use? Pro-Tools?

Thank you! It is a Martin through a Fishman Loudbox into a Soundcraft mixer and recorded on Reaper software

So anyway, I picked up my first Gibson brand product - a used P90 Lead / bridge pickup:

Did some tune up items while on the bench:
filed down top of stock nut; I lowered the slots when I got this SX Liquid a few months back.
Since then, as it got cooler and less humid, I had some fret sprout which was addressed with a few file strokes on each side of the neck.
I trimmed the foam under the neck pick up to allow a little lower height adjustment.
The pots were a little stiff and the vol a little scratchy; Deoxit Fader Lube set things right.

Like it a lot.

Me, the Wifey, and the Doggie, at least 2 to 3 times a week, go out and walk around at this certain area of our local beach. Every year there is a nesting pair of Ospreys, or aka Seahawks, that hangout and have total control of all flight patterns, of the aviary kind, in a vast area. Beautiful Raptors... :yesway:. The unlucky fish in the pic is about 1' long...
