No sorrow necessary! Thanks for the details! I’ve been mic’ing a Tama piccolo snare for a decade and change....I’m envious!
Damn fine Peavey action there....and Ovation too!So anyway, I think I'll give up :-(
Been working on this tune and taking audio references from Johnny Cash. Just went back to Google and stumbled on to this, where's the back door I'm done!
Sorry to quote twice, but...WOW!So anyway, I think I'll give up :-(

You are not alone.Back when Glen was top of his game I never figured I'd eventually own a guitar. I listened to his voice and figured he was good but not hard edge enough for my taste. Now he's gone I'm in total awe of his playing!
Rush is one of the first bands I remember listening to. My best friend's older brother was into bands like Pink Floyd, Rush and Manfred Mann's Earth Band. He was about 10 years older than us, so naturally we took after him when it came to music. Being 7 years old, that kind of music really made an impression.RUSH already saw you coming way back in the 80's, Gahr.
See what I did there? Back atcha
OOOOOo Black's post was number 2112!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HAHA I have seen this before, BUT he really reminds me of a couple of my episodes while tying to fix my old cars over the years and I was either without proper tools, without easy reaching ability from having to work off the ground and getting rusty metal in my eyes fixing exhausts etc. Also if I was working by myself on very heavy or awkward parts and having them fall, slide off jacks, need fixing in sub 0 weather, and plain old fighting every hindrance known to man, only to get stuff 99% reinstalled and still fighting to get a transmission or something in the final 1% for 2 more hours and bumping my head 10000 times etc.
OMG have I let out some doozeys of tantrums.

So it is an attentuator? What do the knots do?So, anyway, I tried another Rob Robinette mod:

But instead of a switch I built a speaker cable, for head / cab use.
The knots in the cable are not the preferred method but good enough for this.
It substantially reduces overall volume with the amp cranked up, but still just a bit louder than I would play
if family was upstairs watching TV. Actually I need to have my son play while I am upstairs with the wife and "take the temperature" of the situation.
At lower amp volumes it doesn't do a lot, maybe helpful to get to edge of breakup; still evaluating.
At first I thought it was killing treble response but the closed back cab is very directional; I usually have it on the table not the floor.

I’ve only heard “of” them...always in comparison to JJ tubes. Never laid hands on them though. Just “tripped” over blurbs on the net. I’d try them if I got a deal on them...like a quad in the Classic 30.Anyone every hear of Ei power tubes? I got a bunch of EL84s in a bulk sale on Reverb and these were among them.

They seem to be medium gain with some headroom, at least in my low headroom Panama LOCO X ampI’ve only heard “of” them...always in comparison to JJ tubes. Never laid hands on them though. Just “tripped” over blurbs on the net. I’d try them if I got a deal on them...like a quad in the Classic 30.
I’ve been running these for a couple of years...67plexi has also mentioned them. Robust, to me.They seem to be medium gain with some headroom, at least in my low headroom Panama LOCO X amp
How do you get years out of an EL84? Mine go about 30-40 hours, which is usually inside a year with multiple amps.I’ve been running these for a couple of years...67plexi has also mentioned them. Robust, to me.
