SIX

SIX does not want as i would:

Furthermore the joint of the two halves of that top broke up. The internal stresses of that wood appeared to be too large.

After a while of uncertainty whether to throw the top in the wastebin or not i decided to give it a last chance. The central glue joint joint will definitely not close completely, so it will be difficult to continue; i have to take care, that the top will not tear the body apart. That's more effort than hiding the open joint under the string holder - as this is an archtop there are possibilities for the latter.
Although i am currently having forced free time in the next weeks (at least another 4 weeks without income due to Corona) this project will probably proceed very slowly.

I believe you will come out victorious!

Sorry about the work layoff. I hope you stay healthy and safe and that this is soon over for all of us

Slow progress: further work on the top. A lot of cleanup of the inner section. I left it thicker as originally planned - but hey, that's a semiacoustic, and my main goal is to learn how to control the making process of an archtop.

The n cut the sound holes and the hole for the pickup - You can see that i plan a single mini humbucker. Unfortunately the tuners i planned to use are out of production :-(

The top needs to settle a bit until it can be adapted to the ribs. Well, of course it also needs a lot of sanding of the inner parts and the holes, so there will be all time it needs (and i'm preparing a new project).

I worked in a machine shop where I made a beater from a hardwood 4x4 post. People kind of laughed at first, then it was like, hey, can I use that - lol. They are useful tools.

For those of us who had the "pleasure" of owning and maintaining an English motorcycle or automobile, we can relate to the phrase "Apply Hide Mallet" in a service manual. It just means hit it with a leather hammer. Usually, something bigger was needed.

Never had a 'hide' mallet - I bet they are nice for certain uses. Hmm, off to eBay - lol...

OH I LIKE THE LOOK OF THAT ALLREADY!!!!

GO BEA!

I agree with Adrian. GO BEA.

I sure am a SUPER FAN of all your projects, Bea. Whenever I see one or more of your cool creations, I brag on you to my fiancee.
You are really Going for the ONE with this build.

Not sure if you like YES music or not, BUT I can't resist since those words came to me as I learn about SIX. SIX is the ONE.

Ray said it, Bea. I hope your finger wasn't bad. Was it a bad cut with the jigsaw or just a little scrape kind with no Doctor needed or anything?
