Did Younotice the 3 orange letters on my jigsaw - AEG? Wanna know the meaning?

"Auspacken, Einschalten, Geht nicht."

Outstanding Bea!!!
I admire your desire and abilities.
That will be a marvellous instrument when finished.
Can't wait to see the top & back carving, when you get to it.
And I will no doubt, be "borrowing" from your experience on some future project.
Keep up the excellent work.

Well, i am just preparing for the carving. Planing the relevant parts of the surfaces (a lot of it done today), planning for the profile (parabolic like i did with my archtop guitar). I im not going to drill positioning holes but first carve a few grooves which match to the computed profiles and then do the rest. That's really laborious, so progress will remain slow. Although i have better tools and more experience (hand carved SG body....) that i had 35 years ago and expect to be a bit faster.

AEG was a large German company and concerned with everything regarding electricity - from power plants and electric power transmission lines to consumer electronics (and highly regarded vacuum tubes, Telefunken has been a brand belonging to the AEG, but sometimes they were labeled as AEG).

In need of a thickness gauge i refurbished the rests of a broken chair (same as the chair the gauge stands on). Of course maintain the KISS principle. The dimensions have been taken from Benedetto's simple gauge - but the construction is simpler and but equally precise. I will, however, make a longer stylus and add a nonius. At least some day ...
