I could be wrong, but I think Jimmy Page might have used 8's at one time - of course my mind might not be remembering correctly - but, I'm pretty sure when I was a teenager and a die hard Led Zeppelin fan I as using 8's because - um, Jimmy Page did...

P.S. it's interesting seeing the different opinions and experiences with stings in this thread. It seems they are a lot like hospitals. One person says don't go to hospital A because they'll kill you, go to hospital B their awesome - but, the next person says the exact opposite - lol...

It seems the opposite of picks. Most of us were similar pick-wise, but are very different in string use. Brand loyalty seems like the only constant.

For certain of my guitars. I prefer 9s. But, I’ve found that certain non-locking vibratos, such as Bigsbys, exhibit better pitch return if there is more tension put on the spring. So, for those guitars, I use 10s.

@Smitty...I agree...all my guitars are just plain with no wiggle sticks or whatever..

The 9’s seem like a good fit for my LP’s and soon to have SG

First you get a bucket......... and you have to stalk the string in your sandals and shorts --- in Feb in the snow-------

now get the bucket and meet me out back in the field ----------bring a flash light--- if Im not there in an hour-- wait longer
