Shades?

What about a good pot roast?

Nah. I'll eat an occasional burger or carne asada taco (two/three times a year), because obviously they are delicious, but I really don't enjoy big hunks of meat like a steak or pot roast any more. And if we're being completely honest, really, beef is one of the absolute worst things you can put in your body. It's right up there with soda as something to be avoided IMO, and causes far more health problems than I think as a society we are ready to admit to ourselves yet.

I didnt know beef was considered that bad.
Please dont tell me it is as bad as shooting heroin.....
Chalk up another vice I'll not be giving up.
The beef I mean, I dont ride the white horse.

But I get it too: much red meat, or anything, is not good.
Moderation.

There are teriyaki pork chop leftovers at home. ymmmmm.

Do you consider your self a vegetarian then? Just curious, you can ignore if you like.

No, not at all. I eat anything I like, but I do take what I eat into consideration every day. I will say that my diet is predominantly plant-based, but I eat a lot of fish and fairly regularly chicken too (although that's not too great for you if we're being honest). Beef and pork, on the other hand, is something I actively avoid. It's terrible for you, as bad as ice cream or doughnuts for your heart, not easily digested, full of hormones most of the time, and you can get more (and cheaper) protein from plants. I mentioned I will eat an occasional burger; that's something I love too much to give up entirely, but I know going in that it's not good for me, so it's all about moderation as jtcnj said.

More than anything though, the main thing to avoid is sugar. It's poison. I have not had a soda in over 20 years, and I don't ever eat desserts. Every so often a piece of chocolate or fudge but that's where it ends.

As I have aged I have become a lot more aware of what I eat and the effects that different foods have on the body. I'm 53 now, am not and never have been on any medications, still wear the same pant size that I did in high school, I'm as strong as I have ever been in the gym and I have the resting heart rate typically associated with someone 20 years younger. I'm not boasting - It's a lot of hard work to stay fit, and it requires some sacrifices, like foods that I love, to remain healthy. I really don't want to be medicated or start feeling my age, so I put a ton of effort into my health at this point in my life.

Man I have to be the most unhealthy one around , I eat whatever I want, don’t go to the gym, smoke, drink, (beer) Diet Coke, I have put on 25 pounds in the last 30 years, I am on no meds whatsoever, my biggest problem is insomnia.
And I feel that if I was to change up all of this I would be gone.
Cheers
Mitch

Cool thread you started, gball. Besides some interesting info on lens wear, there's also interesting info on healthy diets.

I haven't been very satisfied with any sunglasses I've owned in the past 20-30 years. My aging process probably has something to do with that. But this thread has given me a bit more useful knowledge to consider, next time Im ready to invest in a new pair of sunglasses.
