Now for the LRT and Home schooling. Man, My school experience was a challenge. I was not the best at paying attention. I loved having friends at school, and my Elementary school was the best school ever for a kid to enjoy learning, sports, gym etc. BUT my first school years were marred by marital issues and fighting and much sadness at my home. HOME schooling if it existed would have majorly sucked except having time with mom. Dad was the jerk here.

Flash forward to Middle school. New school new kids, and new location about 20 minutes north. Needless to say, things improved some, despite me still carrying some lingering growth bumps in the road due to the breakup of parents and getting a new dad. Despite some of the least of objections to my next 12 -15 years with my stepdad till I became a college grad, employed adult and mobile maniac, I had truly gotten life's greatest lesson in or out of school. That was the lesson of a stable mom and dad who did not quarrel but displayed love and teamwork with themselves and with my sis and me.

SO, in the end, no matter if they are home schooled of in public/private school. Patience, love and being there as mom, dad, siblings, grandparents, FAMILY, are some of the most important lessons they will ever learn.
Like you from the age 8 mom left causing a broke ass family. My dad worked hard to support and raise my sister and I but never took the time to help us, my sis dropped out of school and I ended up having to go back for a couple extra years just to graduate. This is not what I want for my kids I want them to accomplish better than I have.

You're a good dad. Your kids are going to be fine.

Other than my acoustic.... I have four electrics.... working on building the fifth one, which will be a frankentele... Got two set necks (G400 and Hagstrom Viking) and two bolt on (MIM Strat and a Tele knock off I got cheap and refinished). I like all four and I just let my mood dictate which one I play. They do all four bring something different to the table. Currently I've been enjoying the semi hollow Viking.

Going to get on soap box now. Forgive me.

The legacy my Dad left me and my brother was how to treat woman. Specifically, our wives. Our Mom was his queen. We watched we learned and when we both got married.....oddly, both 42 years ago.... our respective wives became our queens. Our two sons watched and learned how I was with their mom and well..... the tradition continues. I've made plenty of mistakes. Could have taken a different path thru the work world.... but seeing my boys as men. Wouldn't change a thing.

Similar experience here iB. I’m 1 of 7 kids and our parent raised 7 good citizens. My dad worked for a 3 letter agency at Fort Meade MD. As far back as I can remember dad traveled at least 1 week each month, mostly to So CA, as he was in the space business. At age 20 I moved from the east coast to So CA. When dad traveled out here, I’d go have dinner with him around LAX. A few of his coworkers would go to the strip clubs, but not dad. He had a great saying “why take a ride in a Ford when you have a Cadillac home in the garage”. He was a great father and friend.

That is similar to when Paul Newman was asked why he never had affairs with any of his co-stars. He said, "Why go out for hamburger, when I can have steak at home?"

After reading Smitty's and several posts, I thought I would look up the rules here in Mass.

You pretty much need to be competent enough to make sure your child's education parallels their current grade, and they can be integrated into the public school system without hindrance if that ended up being a necessity. It is also regulated through the school district in which you live. You have to test regularly, and submit results. English, Grammar, Mathematics, History, Sciences, and General Constitutional Law and History are among the topics.

I know that right now, all schooling is done online in Mass. It is done through the individual school districts. This week, most of the area colleges are announcing how they will deal with the 2020-2021 semesters. I expect public schools will be doing the same. I'm sure it will be very pragmatic in whatever decision is made. As far as reopening the state and schools, our governor stated that "We will be guided by science and what the CDC determines for our safety." That's why so many people want to live in the People's Republic of Massachusetts to work and have their kids educated here. We're always number one in the country.

Since I don't have kids, I was curious about all that is going on. Especially since I have so many friends and relatives who are teachers.

Just got done with a 2 hour staff Zoom mtg. I can tell ya in my neck of the woods 80% of parents serveyed want School to open. Im rural lots of both parents working families.

If 80% want schools to open, then let them.
But those who do not study history are destined to repeat it.

80% believe that black lives matter also. Let them, too.

Let's all sit back and watch what happens...
You are watching history being made right now. Remember this. You are part of that history.
What we do now shapes the future.

Im guessing his parents would make bacon outta you ;)
pushing 250 lbs between them and Dads almost 38" tall at the head........on all fours----damn near 6 footer on back legs......

fluffy puppy trumps all......except maybe ........little black baby kitty............who has learned to enlist the large beasts to do his bidding and guard while he sleeps

I have a possum.
But he's really an Opossum. Seeing that his tail is bare and hairless.
He's not really my pet, but he hangs out.
Every night he climbs over the fence, and I can hear him when he exits too.
Someday maybe I'll get a picture, he's a little shy.

Maybe someday I will understand the difference between possum and opossum?

Possessing a furry tail, the true possum belongs to the Phalangeridae family within the Marsupialia order and is primarily found in New Guinea, Australia, Indonesia and other islands in the Pacific region. There are many varieties of possums, including Gliders and Cuscus, while the opossum is a more limited species. With their signature bare tail, the opossum is North America’s only known marsupial; this means the animal carries its young in a pouch much like the Australian kangaroo. Both the possum and the opossum are nocturnal, nomadic omnivores and live on an expansive diet that includes insects, frogs, birds, snakes and fruits. The opossum is primarily dark gray in color but some resemble cinnamon, and, as in Heidi’s case, white opossums are known to exist. The possum is primarily gray in color. The possum and the opossum are both hunted animals and possess an instinct to play dead, or “play possum” when threatened.
