Angus is using one with an ABS-1 which is most likely the mid 80s upward. Judging by the photo, id say 86-88
I bought this issue back in High School & had that pic on my wall, a few years back I found a copy, yep I still want that SG! I want that T-shirt to lolMitch, MAN this is the 1sty time I saw anyone actually with an SG like my Cream color white SG STD.

I miss that guitar actually, I bought it off Reverb, it came with 2 custom pickguards un installed. I sent the black one to a guy in the UK with the same model, put some Super D's in it and installed the PG/chip/knobs. I really liked it but right after I finished it I posted a pic on the SG forum and the guy who sold it's niece contacted me and begged me to sell it back to her, her uncle had been diagnosed with cancer and he sold it and she wanted to get it back for him. Can't say no to that right?
