I really couldn't be happier with this 2016 Gibson Les Paul 50's Tribute.
It came with all the paperwork, unfilled warranty card, bench photo (dated 4/16/2016) and the padded bag. The original Gibson Green Keys are also included.
The .951" neck alone is worth its weight in gold to me and is identical to my 2016 Gibson SG T Series.
As expected, its very noisy. It buzzes and hums when you are not touching metal, which all 4 of my brand new Gibson's did - two new SG' s and two new Les Pauls - all without shielding and with PCB's - an anomaly that immediately stops when copper shielding is added.
No big deal. I expected this and I am prepared. I have a 50's harness and 10 foot roll of copper shielding tape.
Bridge measures a whopping 13.8k and neck measures 7.75k respectively. They actually sound really good!!!
Neck angle is the BEST I have had on a Les Paul. The bridge and tailpiece are super low and action is an almost perfect .060"/.040" - exactly how I set up all my guitars. Relief is around .012" at the 9th fret.
Intonation is also near perfect and the guitar was in tune when I pulled it out of the box.
So...now its modification time.
I have Black Top Hat Reflectors
New Gibson Black Three Ply Pickguard
New Gibson Black Poker Chip with With White Letters
Gotoh Nickel Jackplate (a black chrome one too)
And the original Green Keys to replace the "Ratio" branded locking tuners.
Thankfully, these tuners mount to a plate so no drilling was required to install them.
There just isn't any evidence that's its been played at all. No scratches. No nicks. Nothing otherbthannmarks from the hanger.
The fretboard is super dry, which has been typical of all 5 of my new Gibson's, and is easily corrected with some lemon oil.
So that's the most current update.
More to come!!!
