I would definitely give the stock pickups a shakedown cruise before ditching them. I quite like that set.
Good advice...I want to shield it and give them a shot....

The 490R/498T pick up combo are really great sounding IMHO so I wouldn't change a thing Rockin' Robby. But the shielding is definitely a good idea since you're an expert at it already. That should make sure you don't get any noise at all which I notice seems to irritate you a lot. BTW how much do you pay for a copper roll of shielding. I shielded some of my guitars using plain automotive tape. Does copper do a much better job or do you think it's the same?

Hey, Black...10 foot roll from Art Of Tone in Ventura, California (E-bay Store) $4.99
Hey that's not a bad price...too bad I don't live in Californ-I-A.

E-bay store...Free Shipping!!!!
Somehow I don't trust Evil-Bay since I've heard complaints about it from numerous people for more expensive items. I guess for smaller cheaper items it ain't so bad. I'd have to find someone with a credit card to order for me since I don't trust using mine for online shopping because of the fear of identity theft. That always looms over me. I could probably find copper shielding tape at my local hardware store or order from the music store which is another good option.

First Road Test:
I go through a couple of rolls a week!@@!
Send me your address...
That's sounds rocking Rockin' Robby!:dood: You really get a great tone through that Marshall. Are the 498T/490R pick ups still in it? If so I wouldn't swap them out because the tone sounds so meaty and juicy like a prime rib steak. The guitar sounds really good through your set-up. BTW is your LP chambered or is it completely solid?

Very black indeed Rockin' Robby.

I like the stealthy vibe of that thing. Only thing I would (personally) change is the tuners. Chrome would look great set off against all that black and match the rest of the hardware.
@gball - I'm thinking about doing this...
