Rhett Shull - Why New Bands Don't Play Gibson Guitars

Dono, I posted several references to it and the demo previously elsewhere in other threads. As an 18 year old kid I worked for a landscaper who had us doing work at the owner of the demo company's house. Mr Loiseaux.

I never forget some things he told me about how he got into demo and about how some buildings they would have to fix stuff on so when it was imploded, it would fall right. Lots to know engineering wise in order to be in the demo business.

Also, his dad had a contract over in Europe for like a 3 million dollar demo job but was ill or something and could not do it himself. So, his dad gave him the decision. Stay in college or go to that job and get paid. Needless to say, he chose to go demo that $3,000,000 job.
Mark, summertime employment for me in junior and senior years in high school was at a small foreign car repair shop. The owner had a few high clients. One was a major promoter that would comp him 4 packs of really good seats at local venues. I saw a few concerts at the Capital center from about the 10th row.

Dono,

Back in 1982 just as I began my freshman year at TSU, I had a friend who went to Ticketmaster to get us tix to The WHO. My mom's apartment doorbell rang awhile later and he says he had good news and bad news. He told me there was a 10 ticket limit, but they could not break up blocks of fewer tix. He said we could have had 2 tix 3rd row, but some other people from school asked if he could get them tix too, so he got 10 seats beyond the floor section in like section 104 or something ( I'll have to see if I still have stubs) So, I was happy to be able to see The WHO, but man, 3rd row would have been cool.

As luck would have it, They added a 2nd show for the next night. This time, it was a Cap Cantre only for purchase of 4 ticket limit. This time I made the trip to Largo to wait on the parking lot for how this thing was to happen. It turned out they stuck the ticket buyers in 4 lines at 4 different gates/doors to the building and it was first come first serve on choice of tix. I was about 32nd in line in our line, and it just happened that 2 other Dulaney High kids I knew were a ways back in my same line. They asked if I could get them 2 tix which I said, OK, 2x the gate price LOL which was like $17x2 per ticket. When I got to the ticket window, I was not quite 3rd row,,,,, but got 8th row and essentially got to go for free both nights.

So...let's just say the premise of the OP is correct and new bands aren't playing Gibsons.

Why does that matter?

It really doesn't, except that it's worth channel views.

That's just the thing. It's all musical theater.

When I'm playing long sets, in rough biker-esque clubs, I generally take my YelloStrat for its lightweight and rugged construction.

If it's a nicer venue with more security, I'll generally take my Gibson Les Paul. Since they all sound the same, there's no need to change the EQ's when switching between guitars.
