Restoration project- 1991 Gibson Flying V

There is something unusual with these pickups. When the pickup selector is on bridge, the neck still appears to be active, although not nearly as loudly as when the neck is selected. The same is true of the bridge when the neck is selected, to a lesser extent.

I just did a rewire. At first I kept the old switch, but replaced it in an effort to cure this problem. The situation was identical with the new switch. I also replaced all pots. This is one of the issues it had when I got it, but it had others, so I thought you would clear with the rewire.

Maybe it is the wiring config? The wiring diagram is attached.

Thanks for any insight

What I see different from the Seymour Duncan and Guitar Electronics is how the tone pot is wired.

SD using the middle lug for the cap and the right lug to tip of output jack. GE has this reversed.

Don't know if this makes a difference or not....

Thanks. I think it is because the hot goes to a shared tone pot

Oh your good string . . . I found out the hard way, and just wanted to pass along what I found.
Gibson does strange wiring at times.

Its all good ChasFred!

I have no electrical background and found the diagram you posted hard to read. So I posted something I was more familiar with.

Not thinking or meaning to say yours was not enough. Never intended that one minute.

I like the point you made about original factory wiring! ;)

Were all Good Brother! :dood:
(never anything less)

Cool project. I love V's but for some reason as great as they feel and sound I have never been able to actually pull the trigger on one.
You just need to do it, if while playing mine and I feel as though I want to sit for a bit, I have a tall barstool, that I can still sit with it strapped up, but I prefer standing..
Oh oh I have derailed RVA’s thread sorry Ray .
