nice
I see where he talks differences for bound vs unbound necks but it does not seem clear to me how or when you cut the ends for bound necks, after notching out the tang.
Looks like he says, or implies that for bound necks you cut to length before installing the fret.
I can see this would be desirable to avoid damaging the binding when filing the fret ends, but i cant see being that precise and not have to file, or coming up short.

When i cut my fret ends flush with my end nippers with the face ground flush, i put the tool tight against the edge of the board.
I found as the metal compresses and distorts a bit before it cuts through, it pulled the face of my nippers hard against the binding and chipped it. They are new and sharp, I dunno.

On this upcoming project I will back of a mm or so.
If I can get the frozen truss rod issue resolved.

Yes, cut the lenths, then nip the extra tang, and then secure the fret and file the extra tang material clean. I use my grinder instead of filing

I dont see me getting the length just right.
i'll be filing the ends flush for sure.
I did fine beveling with just the file at an angle, though I'd like one of those beveling files.

Last time I clamped a piece of scrap 5/4" in the vise with a groove filed in it to keep the frets steady while I filed out the tang nub left from notching out the tang with the end nippers. Very tedious.
I bought a sheet metal nibbler for this go round.
Should get a cleaner cut and fewer file strokes to dress it out right.

I have an incoming NGD expected today so this might drop down in priority right now, among a million other to do lists items of various genres.
