Snagged 1983 Mustang GT 4 eye Foxbody today. 302 4v smog motor, T5 tranny(early version not as strong) and of course the 'yeah man everything you need is in the trunk" lol. As bought pics. Drove it home. Has good oil pressure but water temp & fuel gauge not functioning. Can smell the old gas. Came with original owners lil notebook with all his fill ups-pretty cool to see. New fuel pump is on. It is the year they put electric choke Holley 600 on. Have it all degreased down already & backed into one of the garages. Ordered water pump & thermo & gasket kit. Gonna pull heads & re gasket top end. This is the one have been looking for next winter small block stroker build, change to 8.8 rear, link up frames & make it scream. Buddy with 69 383 stroker Chevelle has issued the challenge. Well 2 days of tuning got er running pretty good. Has Shorty headers in to 2 to 1 muffler like factory and the cat still on for some reason. After numerous beatings and tunes my conclusion it has a small cam, also, its very fickle with timing and the power band is way too high for a stock 83 302. This thing goes at 2500+ & with the 2.73 gears its pretty wild from 50 to 100 dont even need 5th gear for anything lol. She coming apart soon as i add on another spot to garage this week..yaay more framing & concrete work but will have a dedicated spot for it.
 
Oh yeah, reason it was sold was stumbling & getting hot. I burped it twice yesterday & today running right at proper temp even after many beatings. Also, huge plus..its been upgraded to SVT brakes & some handling parts. It sticks to corners real good. I look down & am going 75 mph into stuff that feels like 45
 
4.10 rear gears in, speedo gear to correct going in. Brawler 600 carb on & most unnecessary smog & xtra vacuum lines removed. Going to drive till winter then completely take the car apart & rebuild the 302 & all suspension. Gas tank dropped & new one on the way & ordered all new parts from filler neck to carb. Sending unit & whole inside of tank is scaled rust from sitting 21 years. After seeing the lines & tank, probably from here on all will do gas tanks before anything else .

After digging into the car found the original owners record book. Daily driven up to 2002 about 15.2 mpg & there is a racing harness bolted in, he ran it at a road track, 5.4 mpg he figured. The records are for every fill up since new. Car is pretty much solid, am in the in-between stage-- do i run it as a back road daily beater or paint it.

These foxbdies are very easy to work on & parts availability is excellent. Helping define the car journey, prob get the 66 Galaxie gone(390 is done rebuilt & dropped.) Thinking another foxbody stang but more race oriented, its so easy to move these light cars around & work on them.

Got gas tank on & the gauge actually works also now. Its a strong runner & the 4:10 gears pepped it up But after 4 carb changes just to see if i am aint goin nutz, it wont idle under 1100 & creeps all over the place at idle. Took off intake today & going to eliminate all smog crap & every unnecessary83 GT intake o.jpg vacuum to nowhere. New intake on the way for 1500-6500 rpm use , lil overkill for the current situation but it being torn down soon as they salt the roads here.

You guys are making me want another Mustang, I was thinking about a used Vette next but we have a Mustang hot rod shop here in town that are building some sweet Mustangs so they are everywhere! I sold my last Trans Am 2 years ago to buy Dawn a new Jeep. I have only owned 1 Mustang. Sorry the pics are old as dirt, I bought it when I got back from Desert Storm. I took 3rd place in Lowrider Magazine Nationals in El Paso & 3rd in a Iasca SPL stereo competition. It wasn't a Low Rider but my friends were in a club and asked me to go with their club and enter the show. My brother gave me all the pics I left at home but Dawn put them somewhere and I have no idea where they are:mad:
The 2 polaroid's I had with my military paperwork. It's a 93' LX 5.0 5-speed, Paxton Supercharged Saleen body kit with the whale tail & Mach 1 hood & Saleen suspension package. Emerald green that faded to black.
