it fits comfortably in the pocket and does not get knocked off (as it could when hanging from a belt ) or fall lose if your trying to catch a goat or trim pig tusks -- or whatever...

Here in London we know all about terrorism. I lost two friends to the IRA, and in Kabul I lost another to the Taleban. In none of those situations would quick access to a knife have made any difference. HOw does it go? You don't take a knife to a bomb fight.

I wasn't really talking about the knife - that is just a tool. It is the - to my mind - strange attempt to conceal it. When I wear one I wouldn't dream of doing that. I mean, who exactly am I concealing it from and what is my purpose in keeping it hidden? That bailer twine isn't going to run off it spots a knife.
