it fits comfortably in the pocket and does not get knocked off (as it could when hanging from a belt ) or fall lose if your trying to catch a goat or trim pig tusks -- or whatever...

you've not worked on a farm much have you???

Yes I've spent a lot of time on my grandfather's farm. He wore a knife every day - it was an 8 inch puukko, and it hung in a sheath at his side. I was given a smaller version to wear. No problem with catching on stuff.

My very first pocket knife was given to me by a neighbor lady who said "Every gentleman should carry a pocket knife because you8 just do not know what may present itself to you." That is a quote that has stayed with me my entire life. I will gather up all my "POCKET KNIVES" for a family picture to post.

Here in London we know all about terrorism. I lost two friends to the IRA, and in Kabul I lost another to the Taleban. In none of those situations would quick access to a knife have made any difference. HOw does it go? You don't take a knife to a bomb fight.

Can't do much about that. My concern here - and when we travel abroad - is keeping my family safe.

Anyone interested in a thread about these?
I would imaging many of us carry them.
Yes?
No?
Maybe?

Been carrying a pocket knife sine I was around 8 or 9. My great grandpa gave me a nice Case XX 3 blade model.

We used to carry Buck Knives to school back in the day before the world went crazy.

I still carry a knife everyday. If someone asks about carrying a weapon I say no...it's a tool!

These days it's one of these...

I wasn't really talking about the knife - that is just a tool. It is the - to my mind - strange attempt to conceal it. When I wear one I wouldn't dream of doing that. I mean, who exactly am I concealing it from and what is my purpose in keeping it hidden? That bailer twine isn't going to run off it spots a knife.

Most of us have no "Strange" attempt to conceal it. It's the sky is falling mentality of the general public when they see someone with a knife.

I use my pocket knife at least 10 times a day and I'd be lost without it. When someone needs one they are never sheepish about asking to use mine...

When I lived in Florida this was in my back pocket everywhere I went. No one knew and if I needed it, it was there...It's my wife's now. I have a Glock .45
