PHOS: Major try from Writing, Tracking, Mixing & Mastering

This week, the tracking song has a keyboard in it, spacing that in the mix right before the mix even happens next week. The mix song is one of my favs & so is the master song for this Friday release. Pretty cool when there is more than usual emotional attachment going on.

As the learning moves forward..small moves, small EQ changes, small gain staging changes the whole process vs letting the end figure it all out. This weeks songs is open sounding, almost playful in a way. Fun stuff..back to work..
 
Simply having a blast learning all this mixing & mastering. Do have 3 new songs in dif stages of tracking. They have been recorded way way dif now i know the back end process better. DROWN #2 of 5 on EP for release on Valentines Day,


 
There is now 12 dif speakers or headphones to listen to for testing. All at the push of a button. From pure 2 channel power amp only, Pioneer integrated amp, Sherwood receiver and active nearfields,

It has so much brought back the enjoyment of listening to the music i grew up on. How much dif an amp and speaker combination can sound. You can choose, modern - tight focus or warm old school or a combo of both. I like the power amp with the KLH 23, its modern clarity with older warmth. detailed but with a lil personality.

Cool thing is when it sounds good on all of them. Stop the mixing - mastering process & leave well enough alone . BUT. the focus is on what others listen on these days, ear buds, crappy computer speakers first & foremost. Then enjoy dif flavors personally.

Amazing what radically dif sonic info comes out of simply listening on something else.
