PEE NINETIES ROCK! Can Any Testify?

I've been up and down about my P90's lately.
One of my guitars has a wierd buzz to the tone on power chords - subtle but it sounds like the strings are buzzing from a too hard pick attack,
but it is not that.

The TOM type bridge has that spring clip keeper i have heard can make noise, so on a hunch I swapped it with the one from my SX Liquid.
Buzz is gone. Cranked Champ (vol around 2:00 is about as far I can go before things fall apart) pushed with Soul Food as boost only.
Glorious.. now and then I find the biting sound but so often they sound muddy.
I think it may be TOO much mids.

Update: Picked up this guitar again yesterday and the buzz is back, though not as pronounced, and a little different.
Only on the open G
I think the bridge spring clip was in play, but something else is afoot as well.
Maybe it is not the bridge clip at all, idk.

I was poking around bending behind the nut a little, then finally put downward and a little side pressure on the string directly at the nut.
No buzz. Clear ringing string while holding my finger there.

A few light passes with a nut file and it is ringing true.
I installed a graph tech nut before I had the Hosco nut files.
A few of the slots are a little high; maybe the radii dont exactly match.
I didnt have time but either today or tomorrow I will dial in the nut slots.

So happy this guitar is sounding better. I really like it but just couldnt find the sound.
I still have not got around to adding treble bleed to the vols.

The neck is a little too deeply set, making 22 a bit hard to reach - compared to an SG or my Jackson.
I think thats why the bridge pickup appears forward: I believe the bridge is actually moved back to get the scale length correct.

I may bevel the front of the lower cutaway toward the pick guard, and round off the back of the neck heel.
I dont really care about matching the finish.

I think I have convinced myself to give P-90's another try. Those of you who know me know it will be a Gibson, but I am having trouble deciding between the SG Jrs/Specials and the LP Jrs/specials. There are obviously pros and cons to each...my head keeps saying go with the TV Yellow LP Special, but my heart yearns for the SG Jr.

Thoughts anyone?
