My 6534+ is in the workshop at the moment due to some noise issues, so I have borrowed this amp from my twelve year old nephew. I found it for him last year and his parents bought it for him, pretty sure it was $500, including an Eminence speaker (I think it is a Texas Heat) and a recent revalve and service. The guy was selling it because by his own account it is 'too loud' and 'too heavy' (the previous owner has a degenerative muscle disease and is confined to a wheelchair, so his wife would have to move it around for him). I think Alex is experiencing the same issues as his mother won't let him turning the post-gain up past 0.5 ... which I could barely hear! Anyway I've blown the cobwebs out of it now, been cranking it up to 7 at band practice.
It's a great little amp! Sounds close to my 6534+ but obviously you need to crank the post-gain more due to it being 60W rather than 120W. I tried it through my 412 V30 cab (disconnecting the internal speaker and switching the impedance selector from 8 ohms to 16 ohms) at band practice but after getting it home I decided the 412 is not necessary and it sounds plenty loud through the Eminence speaker in the combo. It also seems to be coping well with all of the stuff in my effects loop.
The footswitch for these is the two-button 6505 switch, but it is optional and it seems that most people didn't bother to pay the extra. The previous owner eventually got a Boss FS-6, and that came to Alex with the amp. It works well. <A> controls the channel selection and <B> controls the crunch switch. I haven't really used clean or crunch.
I can recommend this amp to other people. I don't know if there was something fixed at its first service but currently it is running great and was a bargain. I should have my amp back soon and then I'll give it back to Alex with instructions to crank it up some!
