Pearl drums

Smitty, I like playing drums, guitars and bass. It is just I find drums easier to sound good at. Guitar players were always my life long guys that I enjoyed hearing and was in awe of how they did what they do. When I picked up drumming at age 36, the confidence it gave me reignited my goal to pick up a guitar again and then added bass as I always loved them too.

So, there you have it I guess.

Oh and another good thing about drums is no electricity required, only sticks and not even those if you were "Moby Dick"

Got me a nice Rogers double tom holder today in the mail for my new/old Bass drum and 2 high toms ( i need to re-wrap)
 
I get the confidence factor.

Sometimes, I wish I had taken up drums in addition to guitar. I think it would have benefited me in my guitar playing later on.

The "no electricity" factor is one reason I have a special appreciation for acoustic guitars.
 
I was going to bring up the acoustic guitar factor as well.

When my sis asked if I had any guitars my nephew could use to learn on while taking guitar at school, I was glad I bought that $30 Craigslist Yamaha for him in addition to the Squier Strat and little Epi Amp I gave him. She says he likes the acoustic and plays pretty much.
 
Hey Chilli. I got a little Epiphone Studio 10 amp with my first electric guitar. I actually use it now on my electronic drum kit, but it's OK as a practice amp, if you don't mind pops and hisses occasionally!

The funny thing about my history with Guitars vs Drums is while growin up we had very little money.
I took trumpet in school from about 4th grade till 9th. By the time I hit 12 years old, mom left dad and we wound up in an apartment.
The 1st time I went to practice my trumpet in the apartment, we got a call from management to stop or somehow make it less audible. I had to use a mute which seemed to make playing a major strain. It was like blowing into a closed bottle.

I decided I wanted to learn guitar and we rented an awful Yamaha with very high action. Made learning no fun, once more.
When I finally decided to try electric guitar, I was in College but still at home in the apt. I found my now lost soulmate 70's Black Les Paul in the news paper and bought it for $375 with the nice purple lined gibbo case. The trumpet went to sale to the music store for about $100 I think, so I was happy.

Sadly, I have not been able to reach the boy- now man who bought my lester to see what ever happened to it from his end.

Then about 2000 I sat at a drum kit in church while taking a break from hanging sheetrock, and enjoyed the heck out of it, so I went to the Music store and tried a number of them till I settled on a nice Purple Pearl Export kit which got the ball rolling on drums, then another guitar, 1991 Fender Strat in Gun Metal Blue.
and then more drums, bass and of course SG and Epi LP love.
 
Alex, that is the same amp I lent my nephew.

I have to say for sheer fun and all out stress relieving ass kicking enjoyment---- I would take drums over guitar or bass ....any day.....

But then I have anger and hostility issues.....so........

This Opal white kit was an ebay kit I bought off a guy that was Piano Black when I got it, and I stripped all the paint off and sanded things to bare wood, then I painted it 3 stage white and eventually sold it off to a nice lady as her first kit. Oh yeah and it had the long 1 piece lugs before I put the new Modern low mass lugs from Pearl Masters series.
