Incoming...On its way from Musician's Fiend - a Marshall Origin 50 Watt Tube head weighing 25 pounds...ordered online Saturday.

This move was to help with a SI joint injury that I keep aggravating by flipping a 55 pound DSL40C on its back, and putting it into my Mustang's trunk.

The Origin will get fitted out with Genrlex Gold Lion B759 (high gain 12AX7) but left otherwise stock.

The next hurdle was getting a speaker cab that was one enough to the DSL40C 's dimensions (24"x20"x10") that it would still fit in my trunk.

The answer came in the form of a ultra-lightweight, custom 2x12 cabinet, measuring only 26"x21"x11", which is made from marine grade, mahogany, finger-joint style, with black tolex, gold cord piping,, metal end caps, leather strap and wheat grille cloth. The completed cabinet will weigh in at about 25 pounds empty.

Speakers are the next consideration. My WGS Reaper 55Hz weighs 10 pounds. My Electro-Harmonix 12VR75 weighs 8.6 pounds. My Celestion 70/80's weighs 7 pounds each and my Jensen Jet Tornado Neodymium weighs only 4.4 pounds.

I'll likely use a pair of speakers from the above listed stock on hand just to get the rig up and running, then upgrade at a later date.

My basic pedalboard will be used as it always is, controlling amp volume through the FX loop via a low impedance Boss FV30L volume pedal.

I also have a brand new Weber Mass Lite 100 attenuator if needed.

I'm really leaning towards the lighter speakers. The goal is to keep the completed 2x12 cabinet under 40 pounds - saving 15 pounds over my present DSL40C combos.

Friends of the band heard I was switching from combos and one DSL40C Vintage Special (#1) sold immediately, which will help offset these costs. DSL40C #2 is currently abandoned in Forrest Falls and it might be a loss if the fire consumes our bandleader's home.

So, I will update this thread once the goodies start rolling in....:-)

Congratulations papa

Thanks, Hombres...this will be my first time in many years without reverb. However, while it sounds fabulous to have a really wet reverb effect on a solo during soundtrack, you can't hear the effect once the band kicks in, and even delay is largely undetectable in the mix once everything starts cooking, so I am going into this with a positive outlook...

We thank you for that, John....they are pretty shook up and having to stay in hotels, without knowing if their home has survived or not, is tough...

I know in the end, it is only stuff... but a home is a home. It's not really what's in it but what of you make of it. Then all the legal and logistical garbage if it does go up in flames. Not a hassle I would ever wish on anyone.

So, pretty much everybody is put of stock on the Origin 50H, but Musician's Fiend had it in stock, so I ordered it up Saturday evening.

Today, I got an email...

"Robert,

Thank you for your recent order. We’re reaching out to let you know that one of the items you ordered is not available at our warehouse. However, we located the same product at our Fountain Valley Guitar Center store. That's why the Marshall you purchased may not arrive in its original packaging. But rest assured that the item is new, and you still get the full manufacturer’s warranty.

If you’d prefer to choose another piece of gear instead, please call or email us within 48 hours to discuss options; otherwise, we’ll go ahead and ship your order.

Thank you,

Jake Bush Guitar Center - Operations Manager...."
