Papa's Got A Brand New Amp -

So, pretty much everybody is put of stock on the Origin 50H, but Musician's Fiend had it in stock, so I ordered it up Saturday evening.

Today, I got an email...

"Robert,

Thank you for your recent order. We’re reaching out to let you know that one of the items you ordered is not available at our warehouse. However, we located the same product at our Fountain Valley Guitar Center store. That's why the Marshall you purchased may not arrive in its original packaging. But rest assured that the item is new, and you still get the full manufacturer’s warranty.

If you’d prefer to choose another piece of gear instead, please call or email us within 48 hours to discuss options; otherwise, we’ll go ahead and ship your order.

Thank you,

Jake Bush Guitar Center - Operations Manager...."

Now, I understand that MF and GC are the same company, but have any of you encountered something like this???
My fist one came from FV GC because the local GC had none in stock, my local GC never has anything I am after in stock.
Cheers

In my manual it does.

Either way definitely enjoy your new toy Robert.
One day I came home from work and my grandson and his buddy had used my stack to try out his new amp, they didn’t plug my speaker cable back in, I got home from work and fired up my amp to play. And I got no volume, then I started to crank volume, still nothing, then went to WTF found out that my speaker cable was not plugged in ,
Much to my surprise it still worked after all of this!
Great job by Marshall.
And lucky me
Cheers

DSL doesn't cover it? The 6101, TSL ( although it sounds better with a boost) Jubilee for the most part, JVM, 6505+ all do fine for me.

The problem with the DSL is the best channel, Lead 2 or "Ultra Gain," has a largely unusable amount of gain. Above 11am, it becomes muddy and undefined. By the time you tame the gain with a ECC823 in V1, you've largely reduced the gain considerably, down to about what you would get from the JTM's.

Using a TS-9 with the level all the way up helped tremendously, not only increasing usable gain, but also tightening the low end response.

Should I be suspicious of MF sourcing the Origin 50H from GC???

They are owned by the same corp, but it sounds like you are getting a display model from GC. The fact it's coming from a local GC is a dead giveaway.
That's how I ended up with a $4K SG wall hanger with the wrong case. Of course it went right back. You can give it a shot and see what comes, but if
you aren't happy you should be able to return it to any GC...

Thanks, Chris...I was kind of thinking that way, as you have pointed out, but all the 50's are on backorder, so unless I want to go with a 20 watt...which everyone seems to have...looks like a dice roll.

I’m with Chris, I think you are going to get something that was out on the floor. Not in original packing is a dead give away. I’d ask for a discount, assuming it works without any major dings and such. It certainly doesn’t hurt to ask.

I’ve been in the GC FV store MANY times over the years, especially when I was working in Tustin. They always treated me well and were willing to deal. That’s also the store where I foolishly traded in an original TS9 (and cash) for a Digitech RP-12 In the late 90s.

Remain calm, and give the GC deal a shot. I know the volumes that you like to play at. You'll be disappointed with a 20 watt amp.

Agree - Unless you plan to run it into a 4x12 cab 20 watts won't cut it. I can use my 25-watt Mesa through the 4x12 with a band and its barely ticking over at silly volume levels - much more than loud enough, and plenty of headroom - but through a 1x12 it has to work really hard and I lose all semblance of headroom, so my sound compresses too much and disappears a bit when it gets too loud. Since I know the object here is to save weight you will have to make up for the lack of speakers with power I think.

I appreciate you guys taking the time to comment. I agree with you about the 20 watt. I have had situations where I was running my 40 watt DSL40C almost wide open, so your observations are indeed correct.

Thanks, guys....
