P90 Guitar

I have been Jonesing for a P90 equipped guitar for some time now. I would really like a Godin Summit Classic P90 or a Gibby LP JR but I can't see spending the money for either of them as they will probably get limited playing.
Currently there is a Hamer AT P90 for sale near me. It is a double cut mahogany guitar with a flame maple top (veneer I assume). It has 2 soap bar P90s and it looks pretty good to me.
The price is right so I am going to have a look at it this evening.
Does any one have any experience with one of these beasties?

Looks nice enough. USA-made Hamers are as good as it gets. If it's one of the more recent ones its a Hamer in name only and may or may not be serviceable (a few that I've seen have been of pretty questionable quality). Best to check it out and see if it works for you or not.

I had a '94 Korean made Hamer. It was a well made guitar. No P90s though.

Here are all 3 of my Hamers. The Goldtop was my first Hamer. Brand new in '04, and with tax it was about $1900. Hamer didn't hold their value nearly as well as Gibson, PRS, or Fender. 6 to 7 years ago, used Hamers from the 2000's era were selling for more than 50% less. Which was about that time that I bought the Hamer with the natural Korina finish for $900... used!

In the last 5 years, all used Hamer USA values have come up very nicely. My Hamer Goldtop is now worth about what I paid for it originally. A used Korina Hamer (USA) like mine, are selling for more than twice for I paid for... :yesway:

Ok gents, here's the scoop!
I went and checked out the guitar. It was purchased for this guy's son who, instead, took a liking to one of Dad's Les Pauls. This guitar has sat, unused for several years. It is in virtually brand new condition and still has the plastic on the rear control cavity cover. There are no dings, scratches or gouges anywhere.
The neck is straight. The frets are excellent. The action is low. The nut is cut perfectly. There is no fret buzz.
I couldn't just let it sit there. So now it hangs in my guitar room! It does need new strings or I would take it to band practice tomorrow evening with Leedspool. If I get a chance to change them I just might!
Oh, BTW, it was made in Indonesia. Pics to follow.

I know, I know. No pics, then it didn't happen!

Love that Gold Top Sysco! Looks amazing. The deep body carve looks very PRS-like.
That's part of the beauty of a proper goldtop finish. All 3 of my Hamers have the exact body carve-top. The goldtop finish highlights the carves very dramatically compared to the others.

I would have never guessed that from the pic.

interesting thread... I know nothing about Hamer guitars, except that they
used to be considered a decent brand.

So I'm curious and interested. Myself when seeking P-90 technology...
I bought an Epiphone. I have since fallen arse over teakettle for my Epiphone
ES-339 P-90 pro. Mine's a fine example.

Are the Epiphones made in Tsingtao equivalent to the asian made Hamers?
Price point seems similar anyway.
It sounds like the Hamer brand has gone through similar indignities to what
Epiphone has endured. The race to the bottom, as we say.

But the Gibson owned factory in Tsingtao seems to be rocking and rolling,
and selling Epis worldwide, and I hope that the Hamer brand is still well
respected enough to succeed in tough markets.

Y’know...it occurs to me...

I don’t have a single guitar with a P90.

I am P90-less.
