i think the R8 and R9 Gibson Reissues the soapbars just screw into the wood but those SG Classics have a bracket.

Never heard of these guys, till now. Looks good. In my simple world: the difference between a 45° bevel and a 30° wide-bevel is the router bit. I'm surprised that with all that cool machinery they have, that they don't offer the wide bevel option!

That is a good idea. You pay through the nose for the Creamtone stuff, but their goods are very nice.

Judging by the pictures on the Pickguardplanet site, they do offer a wide bevel version (product nr. 2504). Iḿ hoping they get back to me soon.

I think I might have found a solution regarding the brackets as well. I have some of my old toys lying about that are basically construction sets made of wood. My kids don't play with them anymore, so I might nick some suitable pieces that can easily be made into mounting brackets.

I just found some bits of black plastic lying about. The material seems to be very similar to what you find in Gibson control cavity back plates. I fashioned two VERY crude mounting brackets out of it and screwed the P90s into it using the screws used for mounting the pickups to the bottom of the pickup cavity. When I get a batwing I'll drill holes in the "wings" of the brackets to fit them to the pickguard. Hopefully it will work well enough without ruining the plastic. The threads in the plastic will probably be very prone to wear, but I figure I will find the right pickup height relatively quickly, so I guess they will work for a while at least.

Now I just need the pickguard...

Thanks Chas---and it IS--- nice hunk of Mahogany with a Bare Knuckles P90 ---- it rips and snorts---- or courtseys and plays nice --- depending on how you ride the knobs.......amazingly versatile for a 1 pup wonder.

I just got an answer from pickguardplanet. $53 including shipping for the P90 batwing. 5-ply black/parchment/black/parchment/black. 2.5 weeks lead time, not too bad. And a whole lot cheaper than getting a new guitar!

Batwing PG's look real good on an SG...I should know. Batman would be proud of you. Just ask him for help installing the PG and you're all good to go.
