Our Friend Kevin Paul Moore:

Kevin Paul (Moore) on Lead Guitar with The Stik Men

Bio:

Entrenched solidly in the Americana genre, StikMen produced a substantial catalog of original music often featuring the dual guitars of Mario Massi and Kevin Paul (Moore) and the soulful vocals of St Louis native Norman D. Massi and Paul produced all of the bands material. Also contributing to the project were Mike Torpe, George "Boom Boom" Baumann, Peter Kruse, Trey Sims and Nick Forchione on drums, Darla Dandre, Audrey Johnson, Mike Kric and Trace Zabar on vocals, Harvey Mandel on guitar, Mr. Jake on harp.

ThrillBilly featured Massi and Paul along with Dave Matthews, George Boom Boom Baumann, Peter Kruse, and Jim Reach. Released in 1996 "Trouble" formed the production team that would continue on to produce the StikMen catalog.

Robert, I'm glad that you and Kevin had the opportunity to become friends. I wish I had been able to spend more time with him. I'm downloading all of the soundcloud files now.

We met on the Marshall Amp Forum back in 2015. He lived in NYC and Pennsylvania, so meeting up would be tough, but we emailed and messaged quite a lot. He always downplayed his troubles. He didn't want people to worry about him or feel sorry for him. His diagnosis was much, much more severe than he would admit, and yet he remained optimistic to the end. We discussed many things in his last few weeks - but he never once complained. Kevin didn't want me plastering his tunes all over TTR, and I respected that. Kevin's MS was making it harder and harder (for him) to play like he used too and that bothered him, but he was happy that I had nice things to say about his session work.

My last TTR PM from Kevin was on October 9, 2018 - "I am much better after seeing your words. I was tired, I got a second wind and I'll be going to radiation shortly.
Thank you for asking my friend Robert, very nice of you...."

You know, we don't often realize that each day may be our last. Kevin and I shared a lot, but we should have shared even more. We get busy...we get preoccupied...we miss opportunities that can never be revisited. It has made me rethink almost everything that I do. No more waiting for the "right" time to do something....

I would put Kevin Paul in the category of one of the most underrated guitarists around. He sure had a cool collection of guitars. I really dig his Brian May model guitar...I bet he had a lot of fun playing with that axe.
