I think you'll be happy with the Grovers you decided on. High ratio is always better in my book, though I'm with the others who haven't had issues with the standard Klusons that are like your Gotohs.
Aesthetically also, unless a guitar looks old, the relic tuners would look wrong to me.
Are you going to go all gold on this one, or leave the rest of the hardware chrome?
Other than Les Paul Customs, I only have one LP with gold hardware. But IMO it looks good on a Standard.
