A few points:
Go out and play them both side by side - you will be shocked that they are both USA models; the special just blows it away in terms of build quality, etc.
Next, the 2019 standard doesn't come with a case, so there's $200 right there.
Next, go back to 1963 prices (this special is based on a 1963), and in today's prices the 2019 is actually a tad cheaper.
Next, compare it to a MIA Fender telecaster, no binding, single coils, etc - the Fender is several hundred dollars more.
Next, go onto Ebay or Reverb and try to find a Gibson Special to these specs and finish; make sure you have several thousand dollars ready...
(This 2019 Special is not akin to many Gibson 'special' that have been made in recent years - it is more akin to a CS 1963 Special.)
Next, the fella making this video plays sooooooooooooo many Gibsons, including many 2019s, and he says it's the best 2019 he has played.
Not for the first time, I will say this: I have never heard anybody that has tried this 2019 Special (or 2018 Junior) and not considered them great value for money.
