Ooooooo, so good.

Mine is still a month (or more) away.

Funnily enough, I got an email from Anderton's yesterday saying there was still no delivery date, so they'll give me a refund if I want one. &, I was kinda thinking about it (especially as it's going to England, not here). Now, after seeing them in the wild, I like it more.

While I really dig that guitar I don't understand the pricing? It costs the same as a 2019 Standard...I've always seen Specials going for less than Standards...

A few points:

Go out and play them both side by side - you will be shocked that they are both USA models; the special just blows it away in terms of build quality, etc.

Next, the 2019 standard doesn't come with a case, so there's $200 right there.

Next, go back to 1963 prices (this special is based on a 1963), and in today's prices the 2019 is actually a tad cheaper.

Next, compare it to a MIA Fender telecaster, no binding, single coils, etc - the Fender is several hundred dollars more.

Next, go onto Ebay or Reverb and try to find a Gibson Special to these specs and finish; make sure you have several thousand dollars ready...
(This 2019 Special is not akin to many Gibson 'special' that have been made in recent years - it is more akin to a CS 1963 Special.)

Next, the fella making this video plays sooooooooooooo many Gibsons, including many 2019s, and he says it's the best 2019 he has played.

Not for the first time, I will say this: I have never heard anybody that has tried this 2019 Special (or 2018 Junior) and not considered them great value for money.

He also mentions in the video that "specials" for prior years were scaled down versions of the standard, while this is a very close replica of a 1963 special, and not a scaled down version of anything

Just an observation, you don't have to sell me because I'm not in the market. I hope it's the most fantastic guitar you've ever played! Seriously, I just thought
Specials were supposed to be less than Standards...

Damn you Grumpy
Now you got me looking at GC and SW sites, looking at prices. Perhaps I need to start moving some gear to get what I really wanted in the first place. A Gibson SG

$1500 and 48 Months 0% interest at Sweetwater until December 31st...Only $32 a month!

In a moment of weakness yesterday, I cancelled my order.

I don't like the idea of having a $1500 guitar sitting 8,000 miles away that I cannot play (my plan to move back to England in a month or so isn't happening; another year, at least in Korea).

I really need to focus on my research instead of pissing around with guitars (I have the junior anyways).

Sometimes cancelling an order or deciding to wait is the right thing to do. It's better than remorse when you can't get that New Guitar feeling for such a long time...

I thought "pissing around with guitars" was your research...

In all fairness, and it pains me to admit this, you probably have made a mature decision. I hope you get your Blue Pelham SG Special when you get back to England... :fingersx:

Sorry to hear you had to cancel the order, though with the change from 1 month to at least a year before you'll get to England, it's a choice that had to be made. Hopefully you'll get a chance at another. After all, one can't just stop pissing around with guitars. Cheers

I pulled the trigger on a Les Paul JR. last June for my birthday it's a 2001 well made but I have not played it.
Be thankful your not a drummer. I have a few effects and a extra power supply I'm done this year.
I have been collecting guitars amps and effects 40+ years I'm done

If I was in the market for a guitar I would save up as much money as I could and go to every music store and play as many guitars as possible
You will find a few out of thousands that ring like a bell. Or that rock your world. You never know what brand or model it will be that's the fun part of the equation.

125% exactly WHAT HE SAID! -- I have found this (through much flipping) to be totally true-- and I have gotten to were in just a few moments and a few little noodles I can TELL -- this is a good un-- this is dead wood.....and move on...

I better not let Adrian try any more of my guitars, he may burst all my bubbles and tell me my babies are all dead wood.
