So, I just ran into this brand new hunk of burnin' love, courtesy of the re-formed Gibson:

It's the new ES-235 and is a fresh model from the new "JC Era" of Gibson.

It's a little smaller than an ES-125, but larger than a Les Paul.

Gibson ES-235 Gloss 2019

Believe it or not, I'm considering selling both my Les Paul Studio project I built up last year and my Washburn HB-30 to help fund the purchase of one of these beasties. Even then, I may have to sell a couple of amps I don't use, anymore.

For reminders, here are the LP Studio and the Washburn...

I asked my wife's opinion. She just said, "Do what you want to do."

She also likes the ES-235, so she'd be cool with it.

So, what say ya'll?

I say do it if you're feelin' it. There are a lot of choice models in the 2019 lineup, and it's going to be hard not to buy one of them, let alone a couple. We ain't gettin' any younger, brother.

How much ya asking for the White Studio Lester----- I mean Im beyond broke at present (THANKS IRS:mad::mad::mad::mad::flame::flame:)
but still curious .........can I tes drive before I buy?
DO you take food stamps or wooden nickles?

That's where it gets fuzzy...

I haven't sold a guitar since I sold a Univox in 1986 for $100.00. I don't even really know what to ask, even I was to sell.

The husk alone was about $550.00.

I need to try to be rational, but...well...

After all the parts I bought and the husk, I probably have $1000.00 into it, probably more. I literally had to buy every single piece except for the bridge and stop bar bushings and the ground wire.

But, I know I can't expect all my money back on the parts.

There in lies the rub--- its only worth what you can get for it--
FOR EXAMPLE
recently sold the Ashdown amp-- they are 499.00 new on Guitar Sinners website-- this was "as new" in the original box all the documents-- warranty card whole schmeer---still all I could eeek out of it was 200.00 (still I made profit) but -- the point is --here is thy competition:
Gibson Les Paul Studio 1998 - 2011

and they start at 599.00 :(

^^^Yup. Sad, but true.

I do know my hundreds of additional dollars into that guitar may only net me an additional fifty bucks over what I paid for the husk.

yes I know -- I was showing smitty what is for sale here and comparing prices for his base sales usage.

That is the cold, hard reality check, isn’t it?

After selling two guitars, which I actually like, and a couple of small amplifiers, I’d still only be, maybe, 2/3 of the way there.

Hmmm... gonna have to ponder on this a bit...
