OK, I've settled on three individual volumes and a master tone with a push pull pot putting the middle pickup electronically out of phase with the neck & bridge when pulled up. That along with the triple shot pickup rings gives me a few sonic options. No 3 way or 5 way switches.
The out of phase sounds with the middle pickup in addition to the neck and / or bridge pickup is glorious.
Volume changes on either one yield an interesting pallet of sounds.
Need more time with the triple shots to do a really thorough evaluation, but at this stage of the game, I say they sound better in text.
The tonal differences between the switch positions are almost indistinguishable.
Unfortunately my chrome knobs haven't shown up yet, so the pic seems kind of incomplete...
But at least I could make sure everything worked.
Don't look too close, it was two new pots & two used pots. But it all works so, who cares!
The shrink wrap on the trem springs was put there to squelch odd overtones on high gain.
It works. So does foam stuffed inside the springs.
So what have I learned from his exercise?
1. Adrian is a Ferengi, but has a kind soul.
2. U.S.A. made Peaveys don't suck.
3. Guitar Madness pickups are the bomb.
Are they Lollars? No.
Are they over $100 a piece, like the Lollars? No.
Do they sound great? Yes.
So there you have it!
