As some of you know, eSGEe and I do much swapping of things and horse trading in general.
So in the last transaction a little single pickup Peavey Patriot came home with me.
Not having a black guitar, it was a welcome addition to my stable.
Unusual beast for sure. U.S.A. made, Stratish shape, Gibbo 24.75 scale length, 23 frets, maple neck & body.

I played it for a few day and deemed it to be a fine little beast for sure, but it needed a boost of humbucky triple juju from the shed in the swamp.

Parts were ordered.

So what to do while waiting on parts? Yep, you guessed it, strip it down and chop some holes in it.
Let the woodchips fly.

In the meantime parts started to trickle in.
Had three flat Duncan Triple Shots ordered and two sets of Guitar Madness rail humbuckers.
Left the full pickup leads on, just wrapped them around the pickup screws and soldered up the triple shots.

Then fit & mounted them.

It has a huge control cavity.

Right now it's only one knob. I spaced out room for four.
Was thinking three concentric volume / tone pots. If I go that route I might have to respace things.
Also toying with the thought of putting the middle pickup on a switch that will reverse phase with the other two, and a switch that will put the middle & neck pickups in series.

To be continued...

OH MY --- MY MY The HACKeLF has been toiling OVERTIME in the SWamp Shed
ITS A F$ESTIVUS MIRACLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:)

I cant wait to play the Patriot 3.0 upgrade! -- it was a great little ripper (stock Schaller Distortion pup circa 1986 ish-- very Van Halen-ish)-- ripper squeeler--

I think they just used the SAME cavity in all the 80's editions with the back opening-- it is the same as the Dyna bass I have -- ( the plastic cover that is) and several other Peavey 80's/90's era guitars I have owned.

LOOKING STELLAR as always

perhaps one day a FLOYD????????????

EXCELLENT!!!!

You can't really see it in the last pic, but this thing had a butt ugly black bent plastic truss rod cover that was less than inspiring.
like this...

So I made a proper radiused one on my scroll saw with a piece of maple, tinted as needed, a shot of clear and...

Grain's not exactly right but it beats the bent plastic thing.
