OK URGENT Christmas shopping HELP NEEDED, Otherwise I would have put this elsewhere.

Also, I looked up Philly cheesesteaks, Do they really make em with Cheese Whiz?

There are only 4 ingredients in a real Philly cheesesteak.

The first, and MOST important, is a fresh baked Amoroso roll. This is what 99% of the places get wrong, a hoagie roll is just not the same.
Second is thin sliced steak (NOT steak-um)
Third is grilled onions.
Last is provolone cheese.

Ya gotta cook the onions real good first on the grill. Once cooked, put the thin sliced steak on the grill, it cooks pretty quick. Then put the onions on the steak, still on the grill. Add 2 or 3 slices of provolone on top that and put the open face roll on that. Let that warm until the cheese is just starting to melt and then use a spatula to scoop the entire thing up and turn it over in your hand. Use the edge of the spatula to tuck everything into the roll, and that my friend is a Philly cheesesteak.

Cheese whiz came along later and is an accepted variation, but is not top shelf. Anything with peppers added immediately erases the word Philly from the title, it just becomes a steak hoagie at that point.

LOL @ cork Sniffer, Thanks

The Amoroso is a new one on me.

Never been one to know names of different breads too well other than Italian, French, Rye, Wheat etc

YOU guys are making me very hungry now. I want me some Captain Harveys hehe

Dono, I would surely like your Philly recipe over the Cheese Whiz one.
I also have heard of some screwy way some people put red sauce in their subs, No thanks

Oh I know Captain Harvey's. I haven't had a sub from there in a decade probably. My freinds and I would joke and call Essex the gateway to Dundalk. A buddy of mine was a cop in that precinct for years and oh the stories he could tell.

As far as subs and pizza go the holy grail is Pizza John's...well at least for pizza. I am contractually obligated to say so because of my Essex origin.

My core group of freinds from hs all moved out of there, including myself, but whenever our buddy in Seattle is in town we have to get Pizza John's.

I knew Pizza Johns would come up. YUMMY Pizza.
Also, some of my favorites are Maria's in Timonium for plain old tasty Pepperoni pizza on their 2 for 1 Sunday/ Monday specials.
Pub Dog in Columbia before the strip center blew up/ so Pub Dog in Westminster or Baltimore.
Mod Pizza is pretty good too, especially the make your own with as few or as many toppings as you like.

Then after those, I will eat it just about anywhere else.

Christmas went great. We went to her son and his new bride's house. Exchanged gifts and had a nice ham dinner.
When we got back, she had me a box of nice sweat shirts and a nice other shirt and pants. Plus a set of Sony noise cancelling wireless headphones.

I gave her a pic of her new necklace in another necklace box. And a packet of literature about a future trip to Shenandoah Valley historic sites and Skyline drive, Luray Caverns and some nice meals etc once Covid is safely behind us.
