I also went through the same dilemma with the Gibson doubleneck GAS. I considered and ruled out all kinds of alternate options from the gamut of decent (& some not so decent) manufacturers out there. In the end, I had to come to terms with 2 facts. 1st, the Gibson doubleneck is a specialty guitar that borders on being a visual gimmick as well as a useful tool. 2, I knew I would get very limited use out of this guitar in a live show which when you think about it is the only reason you need a doubleneck & not 2 separate guitars of 6 & 12 string configuration and the step price for even a used Gibson 1275 just didn't warrant or justify that expense!
But hey, as we see from the asking price for the Paigey #2 guitars, some people pay a lot of money for what they want & price means little to them. That said, 3-4 G's for a Gibson anything is not something I consider doing too often but to be honest, I did think about it when it came to getting a 1275. I just thought it through & decided not to! lol
I did decide to go with a beautiful white & gold Epiphone doubleneck when it was on sale for $200 off new! I figured I could give it a shot & easily come close to recouping my money should I not like it. Seemed like a plan so I went with it.

I am truly happy to report that I got over my 'Epiphobia' (fear of Epiphone headstocks) and that not only is the guitar shockingly gorgeous but the fvking tone is to die for!!! No joke. These pickups are simply old school beautiful sounding. They sound better than newer Gibson anything that I have 57 Classics in & I would have to go back into my vintage era Gibbys to find anything that sounded as full, defined & beautiful. I really don't think Gibson is making anything like this in a pickup today.
I am still happy with this decision these many months later.
And yes, this White fvking double neck is gimmicky a fvk & impressive as all hell when weilding it on stage. Double, hell, maybe even triple bonus points on this one!
