Could this be bluing used during fret levelling, and not actual fret placement? I'm thinking sort of like how we often see a Sharpie used in videos of DYI fret levelling.
Is it possible this blue dye is actually being used for fret levelling and you are just seeing some overrun that may have occurred when the dye was applied?
Bear in mind, I'm not disagreeing with you, per se. It's just that this was actually my first thought when you mentioned some residual dye on the fret ends. Of course, I don't know what process Gibson actually uses to level frets, so I admit that I may be mistaken in this guess.
AT, my SG Faded, Walnut has not only the best feel, but perfect shaped neck for me as well. Super great SG for me. SG stands for Super Great LOLI love the finish on the faded models!
I assume that's possible. But the dye is on the fretboard alongside the frets and it's very consistent. I've since old the board and it's no longer visible, but to my eye it looked like the frets were laid out.
Yeah, kinda like the Chryslers built in Mexico and the VWs built in Brazil.SO those robots (and people) build Japanese quality products on American Soil with American workers??? ............ hhmmm
I can certainly see that.
Peavey took a lot of heat back in the ‘70s because they started using CNC for production guitars in their T-Series guitars and basses. I believe they actually pioneered using CNC for guitar manufacturing.
I think history has vindicated their decision and shown the benefit.
Here ya go, @eSGEewont let me link the video but DAVES WORLD of youtube fame JUST post this "check" of a brand new Les Paul
BRAND NEW Gibson Les Paul Direct From The Store
yep thats it .... funy he JUST posted this video--
I think he may have a fake there .... that heavy paint on the back of the headstock seems VERY suspicious to me ..... he never shows the cavity but I guess it does have the right truss rod
so ... I ask again how is it that the Gibson (wasnt my review) 4k gibbo mind you -- was "with issues" out of the box and my 500.00 Epiphone LEs Paul classic .... needed merely a string height adjustment to my "liking" ... thats all -- no luthier involved... no truss rod no nut repair..... just set height tune and go ... no issues out of the box ... ?
same parent company
same technology
same embarrassing question to Gibson upper management ...... "WHEN are you going to Fix that?"
.40 seconds in 4k Canuckianoh and for the record the serial number is CLEARLY visible in the back of the headstock
the tuners are aligned perfectly
all the pickups and switch work
and ............................it INTONATES!
Frankly Im still hung up on the back of the headstock .............dont look legit
Since when does gibson STAMP the seriel # and the "made in usa" and then PAINT/Finish over it?
I think all of mine are that way.Apparently it's very common....
Faint Serial number and writing on back of headstock
Hi, I have just received my SG standard by courier and I am concerned that I can hardly make out the serial number or "Made in USA" on the back of the headstock. It an ebony one so the stamp is painted over as opposed to varnished in the Cherry version. Is any one else's like that? Additionally t...forum.gibson.com
