Non-Reverse Thunderbird Bass build

Just got done polishing it, and peeling all the tape off the fingerboard. I wanted to put a good Gibson style serial number on it, and found that '66 numbers start with 42. So, it got a '66 serial number, because 42 is the meaning of Life, the Universe, and Everything.

Depending on how much more work I get done tonight and tomorrow, I'll get some more photos up.

I had to look it up. I always meant to read this book!

Trying to get more work done, but haven't slept in a few days. Hoping my wife settles into her new hip, and loses some of her discomfort over the next few days. In the meantime, I'm getting less sleep than before the replacement.

Hoping to do some soldering tomorrow. Never got a chance to drag the belt sander outside to make a nut blank today. Thursday looks like the weather will be good enough to do that.

Did a bunch of little stuff that needed to be done tonight. Rolled the edges of the fingerboard and made everything smother. Didn't go too crazy, but it feels like it's had some play time. Also did the wiring and attached the cavity cover.

I'll trim the capacitor wires after I'm sure everything works. They're out of the way for now.

Got knobs on it too.

I have a very full plate for the next few days between taking care of my wife, and checking in on my elderly mother and doing some work on her house. I'll get to the nut and attaching the tailpiece next week. Also missing some hardware to finish stuff up. Strap lock and button will also go on next week. Should be taking this for a test drive when we jam next Thursday night.

Let me know if you need any help on that test drive! ;)

Such professional work! I always feel like I am learning as I go, although I have gotten a few practices and procedures down now that I am on #3
Thanks. This is only number five for me, and also the one with the highest occurrences of either mishaps or Murphy sitting on my shoulder to give me the old "Ha Ha!" I can't wait for this one to be behind me. That way I can jump back on '58 Flying V no. 2 and the '58 Explorer builds.
Great looking BIRD, John
Thanks Mark!
