so are they the same size?
so are they the same size?
Nope, mine's biggerso are they the same size?
Thanks, so do I. If not it's tools outWhat a great find. Hope it goes well with the luthier tomorrow. Cheers
Nope, mine's bigger
I have a plan though. I had a stab at the electronics today and fixed 4 broken solder joints but it's still dead. I did find the wiring diagram for the tremolo effect on the Hofner web site which confirmed that the effect must be active or there'll be no output. I did measure the pickups tjough and they are both OK at around 6k.
My biggest concern is the neck though. I have a date with a luthier tomorrow but if it's too expensive I'll attempt to reset it myself.
I think I can fit two AAA holders back to back in the current holder. Or I make a brand new holder for 2 AA batteries and completely replace the old one.is there a way to wire in a single cell battery holder for the 18650 instead of the older battery. That is what I would try to do.
Good luck you have a great project.
The date went well, I had a great great time chatting in his garden and he showed the beautiful Django style guitars that he builds. He didn't thinkbthe neck joint looked too complicated but needs to do some research to try and find out how the neck and bodies are actually joined together. I'll try to do the same from my end. Looking at old Hofners they seem to have used both vertical and horisontal dove tail joints as well as butt joints.howd the Date go?????
did you get your Luther "iered" ?
I dont know its Sat here Im bored and cranky -- (this can be a bad combination) as history has proven....plus I need a haircut --

He can do the job but not until later this summer which suits me fine, then I get some time to tinker with the electronics and replace tje tuners. This could turn out to be a great guitar, acoustically it sounds amazing.

Thanks man! I used to have a Framus too, from the 50's. Can't remember what model...That's a beauty and well worth resetting professionally... value steadily increasing on those old German gals... One day I'll put up pics of my crazy old Framus
Good luck on the electrics!
And me. I have the Famos too. Still no more work done on it though. No electrics on either though, just archtops. Thanks man! I used to have a Framus too, from the 50's. Can't remember what model...

That is most excellent! Thanks a lot!@Astral Traveler here's something I stumbled upon yesterday... Pictures oftwofour neck resets of Höfners that arebothall different from yours (the first one is pretty similar though) but the neck joint onbothall of these looks kind of similar:

HÖFNER CLUB 60
Tämä Höfner malli 128 (Club 60) 60-luvun alkupuolelta tuli huoltoon. Saksassa malli oli Höfner 128, vientimalleissa Hofner Club 60. tämä kitara on siitä poikkeuksellinen, että siinä on ääniaukot. T…kitaratohtori.org
Don't mind the bastardly language, I think the pictures speak for themselves. In the comments the guy says that the neck has detached on almost all old Höfners and he thinks it's because the joint is straight and not a dovetail, or something like that.
EDIT found a couple more while browsing the blog..
