Yeah, I think that's the way to go. I like the overall look and feel of the SG's more but the tone of the neck pickup in the Special, and the neck being beefier, has tilted the scale. Will probably grab it in the next day or two when I have time.

Yeah, it looks relatively simple and very functional at the same time; perhaps a good solution.

Well, I did buy it (the Les Paul Special) and picking it up later today (paid over the phone). If I have any issues with the bridge/intonation I'll be going back through this thread to look at options.
I've been playing my Firebird I a ton lately and actually I marvel at how well-intonated it is with the Lightning Bar bridge.

Good buy, you'll love it, and I hope it's perfect for you! I'm looking forward to the NGD thread. I wanted one of these too, so much, but ended up with an Epiphone version which is nice, but doesn't feel full fat milk to me.
I know everyone is expecting the TV yellow, but I wonder if you've tricked us and found a new cherry finish?
