New Guitar Build: The Blackout Stratocaster w/ Bonus 2nd Build!

I built that back in 2000 and sold it when I move to California in 2005. It had no A/C which was terrible in Florida and would have been no better here.

Plus I enjoy building them more than driving them...similar to my guitar hobby and many other interests. Once I finish the work I need to move on...

Until 2012, I've never owned a car with A/C and I was never bothered by the SoCal heat. My 75 Firebird was my only car from 2005 until 2012.

To this day, I have never owned a car with an automatic transmission.

Robert, I started driving stick in my 1972 Datsun 510 with 4 speed. Then I bought a 1977 F100 as my first non motorcycle vehicle to use for work. It has a C4. I never felt comfortable driving an AT. After needing a heavier duty truck, I got a used 88 F250 4x4 with a 5 Speed, this truck I drove another 200K on top of the 135K I got it at. I would only feel 100% safe driving in Snow if I had manual transmissions to CONTROL my speed or lack thereof.

Other than towing trailers, I much prefer a stick vehicle. Funny thing is, I have only pulled trailers with my 5 speed F250.

Sp8, when I was 15 I almost bought the twin to your 67. The one I kick myself for never getting was a 1967 Firebird with a 326 and an AT. The trunk was rusted out by 1979 so I passed on it. I could have had it for $500 but didn't even have a license yet.

When I bought that Camaro you could look in the trunk and see the ground underneath it. That's what a new trunk pay is for...and new quarter panels and a new dash and.....many other things that added $$$ to my project. But it was worth every penny. My wife and my daughters worked on that car with me and we are so proud when it was finished! Then my wife said "sell it" so we could get $$$$$

Chris, that resto looks like it was a blast! Nice work. I see black Lakewood traction bars there.

P.S. I’ve owned two 68 Camaros.

It was and you do. As soon as I bought it I threw the Cragar's and air shocks on it. Then the Holley, a set of headers and a Muncie 4 speed! All while it was still a rusty ugly red primer.
But as soon as those wheels went on it looked great!

A stick shift on the freeway here would be a complete nightmare!
