NEw exclusive SG "colors"

Me like the Frost Blue and the Olive Drab. Are the Block inlays and the resurrected T-Top pickups a CME exclusive for an SG Standard?

And..... $1500 for a USA-made guitar is reasonable, especially if the guitar is flawless.

Just found out that the T-Tops are a CME exclusive. From their website:
Neck Pickup: Rhythm T-Type Humbucker (CME Exclusive)
Bridge Pickup: Lead T-Type Humbucker (CME Exclusive)
Controls: 2 Volumes, 2 Tones & Toggle Switch
Wiring: Hand-Wired w/Orange Drop Capacitors

I thought long and hard about getting one of these when they were first announced. The specs are damn-near my perfect SG. But, the deal-breakers for me are lack of hard case and (why o why?!?!?!?) the stupid cream binding. I could look past one or the other but not both of those things.

the binding is here nor there to me, the case though . . . who ships a $1500 instrument in a frigging gig bag?

Still think the amp sound sweet, and it is built in my home town, Baltimore.

I kinda like 'em. Reissue T-tops were a great idea for an SG, especially given the renewed popularity of P90s and other bright pickups like the mini hums. (Of course if Gibson ever sells the "T-types" separately they'll be hideously, ludicrously overpriced).

Digging the tortoise guards too, and especially the small block inlays - I always loved those. To me, black pickup covers look dumb on an SG though. Chrome or uncovered is the only way to go for SG humbuckers IMO. It's my old-school sense of aesthetics.

I've never really been an SG guy myself; in all my years playing I've only owned two - one is an SG Custom that I've still got. It's an ergonomic issue personally; they just don't hang right for me and it puts the neck at an awkward angle, plus they have a tendency to be a bit neck heavy for my taste. Definitely a rock classic, s just not the right fit for me. Can't seem to let go of the Custom though; I wanted one of those for years after playing with a guy back in the 70s who had a sweet one.

I totally concur with ChasFred's frustration about the modern trend of selling guitars without a case. I understand that a lot of players use gigbags for light weight and convenience, but IMO every guitar should still come with a hard case. It's like selling somebody a car and then making them pay extra to install a back seat. Sure you can drive without one, and some might not ever need it. But most users are going to want one.
