New body day

Mine doesn't have binding or even fret markers (side dots only) so it's pretty straight forward. I expect it to ship any day now.

I ordered that other body 5 days after I ordered my neck and it's already shipped, but it's pretty simple. All black korina, no laminate top, single P90 bridge route, I didn't expect it to take long.

I ordered mine about a week ago. I have a long wait!!! My is a custom build also:

Roasted Quartersawn Maple One Piece CBS Large Headstock

1-3/4" @ nut

V profile 1.00" thick from 1st fret to 12th fret

Black walnut skunk stripe

10" x 16" compound radius

Gold Jescar EVO fretwire .104 x .047"

Black face dots - white side dots

Graph Tech XL Black Tusq Nut CNC cut for .009" x .046" strings and to give .019" 1st fret height

I'm excited!!!!!!

Just to give you an idea when you might expect yours, my neck just shipped today so it took right at 6 weeks.

Is that your actual neck? If you got one from their stock it's

Big hands? My electrics are all 1-11/16". My acoustic is 1-3/4" and it's a little wide for me, but I get used to it after I play it a while.

That's it. They sent me the image. Quartersawn Roasted Maple.

I wear a size 12-13 glove. Can hardly hold an A-major...

Can't go wrong with Gotoh products all are top rate..

I agree. I've bought several Gotoh products recently and they've been great. I like the GE-1996T trem better than the original Floyd Rose it replaced. I recently learned that Gotoh makes Tonepros bridge and tail piece, all they do is add the locking set screw and charge a lot more for it.

The neck arrived today, I wasn't expecting it until Friday so that was a nice surprise. I still haven't figured out what I did to my camera so here are a couple of blurry shots. Already installed the tuners before I remembered to take a pic..

And since I was talking about it, here's the other body I ordered.

Very nice neck and body!! You must be happy with that? (y)

I am! I also got all my pots today and some Pure Vintage 64 pickups for my Tele. So now I have 3 projects all going at the same time, this new completely new one, a new body for my P90 Tele and the new pickups for my regular Tele which is also getting the flame maple neck I decided not to use for this new one. This is fun! :dood:

An update on this. The reason it isn't done yet is because I'm having a hell of a time getting the pickups mounted. The flat metal mounting rings I planned to use (I've used them on all my builds) were too short. The angled neck pocket makes the strings sit further from the body and when I installed the bridge pickup I had it screwed almost all the way up and out of the mounting ring by the time it was close enough to the strings, it was so far up that the base plate was almost even with the mounting ring and it just looked ridiculous.

So I ordered some plastic SG type rings for it. Well my screw holes didn't exactly line up on the plastic rings because they are slightly (and I mean very slightly) narrower than the metal ones I first mounted. When I tighten up the screws it pulls it all cockeyed and warped.

I tried plugging the holes and redrilling but the drill bit just follows the plugs and goes in the same hole. I wish I had a drill press, but I don't so I'm trying to do it with a hand drill and I just can't do it that way.

So today I was looking thru my spare parts stash and I found some metal LP style rings I bought a long time ago. I remember the reason I didn't use them was because the mounting holes didn't line up exactly. Well guess what, they are exactly the same size as the flat ones I was going and drilled holes for so problem solved! ...almost, lol! They are too tall and arched on the bottom to fit an arch top. So now I'm in the process of sanding them down shorter and get rid of the arch. It's going very slow, but hopefully I'll get it done soon and then I'll have another NGD! :fingersx:
