Hello, this subject has been bugging me for some time. Why is it that the Martin D-35 does not have a "diamond" brace on the back of the headstock (ri
"The diamond is a throwback or a remembrance of the days when Martin built necks and headstocks of separate pieces and joined them. The overlapping parts were carved into a diamond...and it is there to this day, but only on some models. When the 35 came out, it got a new neck, unlike the 28, and the diamond was not carried over. It serves no functional purpose, but might make that part of the neck a little stronger".
