Depends on the stereo but 8 ohms is almost always safe. You could do that.I'm still trying to figure out how to pull off the Depeche Mode break in method. I have a mini stereo, but not sure how to hook it up. Like, do I have to worry about Ohms, do I just splice a speaker wire to a 1/4" jack? I also don't have a Depeche Mode CD so I don't even have that option.
Phew. Thankfully!!!lso don't have a Depeche Mode CD
I like vertical 2x12s too. I am shocked about the T75, they tend to be low heavy and low mids.
Possibly cab design makes quite a diff too??I don't know if it makes a difference, but it's an '82 with the vent on the magnet. It's the only T-75 I've ever had. I thought it would be better.

Could be ones of that vintageI've tried it in 4 different cabs now all with the same result. Maybe something's wrong with it I don't know. Or more likely, maybe something's wrong with me!![]()

Yeah don't buy that CD. Use something else with good bass!!I got my ET65 yesterday and installed it a little while ago. I have it paired with the Veteran 30 and I put the ET65 on top based on a post I read somewhere where the dude said that the Vet 30 overpowers the ET65 in the mids and so the Et65 would be best on top.
The ET65 added some badass low end that was missing before, but so far to my ears, that's all it added. I'm missing the aggressive mids that the Veteran gives. I'm going to flip them and see if it's better.
Anyway, the 2 sound pretty good together and I see (hear) why WGS recommends the combo, but I do think these things need some breaking in so it's time to get serious about it. Dammit, now I have to go buy a Depeche Mode CD!
...actually, I'm pretty sure my NIN (Pretty Hate Machine) will probably do just fine.I just need to figure out how to do it and still keep the volume down for my neighbors.

Remember when I said that I “hated” mine…until I finally broke it in. Yep…mine sounded nasally as heck…hated it with a passion. I put it alone, in its own tiny box…and only beat it up when I was in a mood. Then…one day….it started to sound “good”….then better….now…well…it sounds huge. I’ll see if I can put up something with it after dinner…I just sat down a few minutes ago. Long day.So I just put the ET65 in my 112 cab so I could hear it by itself and ...wimpy wimpy wimpy. I was expecting more bottom end because when I had it paired with the Vet 30 the bottom end was awesome, it must be the combination because it's gone now in both cabs. I put one of the 70/80s back in with the Vet 30 and it's better, but lacking something. Yep, this can o' worms is officially open, there's no turning back now!![]()

I did, and didn’t, stick with it though… I banished it to my least used/cared for place…my living room cab. I played it rarely, and quietly. Then one day, I picked up another 1x12, and it needed some company on occasion…so… out came the ET65 cab. I flogged the heck out of it for a while, then put it back in the living room. However, I noticed it sounded better, somehow. So I played through it more, up there…and brought it down to the studio more often… Then it started to sound good enough to hold its own. Now it lives under my most used amp head(for the last 13+ years-the amp head, not the cab), beside my favorite seat for noodling.I'm surprised you stuck with it. After what you said about it one way or another I'm determined to break it in. I've had what your saying happen to me before with the Marshall Class 5 I had. One day I was playing it and thought it just sounded better than usual and it just kept getting better quickly after that. It's the only time I've actually experienced speaker break in. But I played that amp for well over a year before that happened..
