well there ya go........................

I personally have posted several rig rundowns of seasoned PROFESSIONAL international TOURING musicians --- LEGENDS even like ZZ Top--who use ALL SS heads---- but ---
well......uhm.............

Do I like my MESA better than my PEAVEY --- not really-- I LOVE them both for different reasons -- they each have a purpose and a tone and a GROOVE I like---
1 is SS
1 is all tube
depends on my mood lol

I think you’re right and more and more I’m starting to see a bandwagon effect when it comes to Tone. There are a ton of people that chase after Dimebag’s tone. Now don’t get me wrong, he was an excellent metal guitarist with an insane amount of skill... but to my ears, I hate his tone. But like I said, a lot of people chase after it and Dimebag was a huge fan of SS and... scooping the mids..

I mean it’s all subjective. One thing that caught my attention was. A lot of people complained about a fan noise. Supposed to with this model the fan kicks in and the sound of the fan disappears after a minute of it being on. I don’t hear a fan at all. I turn it on and after 1 or 2 seconds I start hearing the amp buzzing lightly, basically my cue that it’s ready to rip, but no fan. So I don’t know if I got one of the last ones that was produced before they discontinued it and that was an issue that they resolved around that time or if it’s been modified in some way.

I’m not complaining, but I’d hate to think someone ripped out the fan that’s supposed to keep everything from overheating.

All due respect to our dear, departed Dimebag...I agree with you.

To me, tube or SS makes no difference. To me, its tone by whatever means necessary.

The tone I "dig" is kind of a mix of Chuck Schudliner and Robbin Crosby. The Marshall Valvestates deliver it without pedals...
