Thanks! I needed that.
Yes, this amp is as touch sensitive as anything I’ve played through..probably the most touch sensitive push/pull amp I’ve played through.
I did have the Silver Horse set up a bit dark...I set it up with the finger picking, delicate, passage...it didn’t show up as being so woolly until I un-palmed the pick, and dug in on that channel(Corona/clean).

Sounds nice. Clean is nice (not that fond of clip 3 when compared with the others), dirty is nice too (clip 5 is probably my favourite). A nice amp; great value.

Thank you sir!
I agree with the clip 3 thing. The Silver Horse pedal was the only change there, from the first two passes. I don’t like it there. I do like it on clip 5 though...
I may take a stab at re-recording the song that clip 5 is pulled from, using this amp.

Glad you like; they must have used extra Awesome sauce in the build: I think they put it in the lacquer they coat the transformers with.

I cant wait to listen to this!!!!
and catch up on some What are You Listening to Right Now posts.

Nice amp! I remember that the Phaez amps were a huge rage for a while over at the MLP forum.
Yeah John, thanks!
I almost bit way back then too. I decided to build my little 18 watt instead, and have been happy with it. I was reminded of them recently, and took a peek...I saw that he’s been doing multichannel heads for a bit now, and I almost bought a chassis from his site off the bat. I floundered for a little while, until this one popped up...with channel switching etc. I couldn’t resist. I did not have a 6V6 amp. I had never owned one actually.

Sounds great and nice playing Don!
Clip 3 sounds a bit muffled or restrained; not as airy as the others.
Especially liked the varied touch / dynamics of pinch harmonics last 18s.
Or thats what I think I am hearing.

Thanks jtcnj!
Clip 3 is definitely restrained...it was all I could do to keep it from muddling up with the Silver Horse on. I haven’t spent too much time with that pedal yet. It’s playable, but in this context the passage in clip 3 was not appropriate I guess. I wanted to see how much I could manipulate it with touch...and it was fairly receptive. It just wasn’t as nice as without it. I liked it better for the passages that followed.
On the dirt channel, it was really responsive and fun to play with in a more unbridled situation.
These material selections were very “off the cuff”, not planned out...I just hit record, played what came to mind, and edited out the spaces in between. I probably should have left the OD out of the equation...but I did like playing with it on in the last passage a lot.

So how is it going with this one, I am interested in his Marshally styles & might be in the market real soon.

It’s going pretty well so far, I think.
It is capable of live band work. It’s got a solid sound, and does take pedals well.
I’ve done some stuff with it to help Ray out with some recording techniques...we’ve been going over multi mic recording to give a sense of space.
This is a crap playing example...I left the clams in....took my time switching pickups and pedals for different parts...so it’s not meant to be song performance oriented. It’s meant to show off the two mic recording feel for different levels of gain.

Dropbox - Room Mic Test.wav - Simplify your life

Guitar is the SG in my sig.
Phaez head.
Lopoline 2x12 cab convertible with the 1/2 panel in the back removed(1/2 open back).
Speakers are WGS Reaper, and Reaper 55Hz(the close mic is on the 55Hz speaker).
Audix I5 close mic.
Apex 210 ribbon mic in the room, about 8 feet out, and level with the cab(which is laid horizontally, on top of a Marshall 4x12)
You can hear me walk between the amp, and the room mic, a couple of times...to switch pedals. You can also hear me “hurumph” at a brain cramp mistake toward the end.
Pedals used were a Small Stone phaser, a Silver Horse(Klonish thing set fairly subtle for some hair over the drive channel toward the end), Boss DD-20, and a cheap reverb that I don’t remember the name of(also set fairly subtle). The lion’s share of the reverb sound is provided by software, while mixing this.
No eq was used on the recording(everything was set flat except the amp). The only added effects to the recording are compression on the master bus, and reverb. The room mic track is pushed a few samples back to add spacial feel.

Please let me know if the distortion channel sounds are Marshall-esque if you want.
