Older version. Excellent. So many tones in it. Tend to favor mid gain & mids & it has it how ever way you want to serve it up. The small cab is loaded with Peavey 5150 speakers. , reacts to all my cabs dif which is cool. Really dug mid gain mode on chan 2. Will prob set 2 up & then 3 for radical. There is gobs of gain but it stays tight. I noticed last few weeks. When you record, Mesa bass is so usable & very adjustable vs most other amps. Can get it sitting just right on the bass with out the fight & flub

The amp is way beyond just a down tuned chugga chugga. On the Marshall cabs it has a mid focus that is a lead players dream. Having trouble containing myself last 2 weeks. The F100 & 50 cal+ lit me up, then DC3 is so raspy & brutal..then MK3 is classic..then Recto is just another level of push, but yet clear & articulate. Taking a bit to get used to, but its hard to go back once that string attack is so tight. The Tube rec & spongy switch on Rect really allows the amp to breathe a bit but still retains the attack response. Would not of been ready for these until recently, had to find my tone..coming right at my 5 year anniversary of Guitar playing since the switch from bass in 2015. I Wake up everyday so motivated cause there is so much music to make before i croak. The gear is set. Stripped my studio area & down to the amps & guitars that are keepers.recto windw.jpgrecto head.jpgRecto rear.jpgRecto small cab.jpg

Lights came on quick on this channel run through !! ...Tube Rec on with spongy switch..on chan 1 is excellent cleans & on pushed..what lead tone !! then flip to bold & diode & wham..whole nother ballgame..what an amp !! Takes pedals & all the Lp's & Sg's are so good..

chan 1)
Clean - responds with gain in middle like a fender..its big..then dime gain & can run light crunch..responds to pedals & guitars ..in a way that really reveals each chracter..even the pedals..smaller movements really are revealed

Push -, here came the huge bonus..side by side with my jmp50, this chan is darn close & actually has the bottom tightness i always looked for. Switching from diode/tube rec & the bold & spongy..its like a modded plexi with way more tone shaping..not the 1 trick pony.. love my jmp50 but get very boxed in with it at times cause it keeps me in the same zone.

Speakers..
Marshall small cab- 5150 16 0hms top & WGS ET 90 n bottom..the cab .the reason used this..it has the exact same speaker spacing as the mesa F100..that amp started this journey & the response of that combo floored me. This cab will prob be the main cab..its unique cause its not the norm v30 recto sound but very mid focused & real nice room spread

Marshall 1960bx- English greenies n top & first run t75 & g12 Vintage n bottom. Right away the spread was wider that small cab & some more depth due to size. Was it better? depending on use i guess, The greenbacks did respond like was hoping vs the 5150's..like to record these 2 together L&R the slight dif really sounds good.
Cab sounds real balanced right about where you would be playing on a stage

Peavey 212- t75 & v30- there is the modern deep thump & response
semi open below it- crate celestion 30 & V Type. spreads the sound in the room huge..the crispness of this cab with the peavey 212 really brings things alive. Can't wait to mic these up.
The rec can be run hard on this set up & stay tight cause the closed back up top.

Mesa V30's in F100 cab. very , very crisp & tight..no doubt mesa matched the speakers right to bring out the amps nuances

EV in MK3- huge..sounds like a mini stack in that lil box..not sure how..the EV is very full sounding & nuetral maybe.. everybody should have one of these around if you really want t know what the amp actually sounds like without all the mid coloring..

The Recto- kinda smiling still..from a recrding perspective..same guitar..same riff..just hit the rec switch or bold or spongy switch or flip one of the modes..what a weapon in the studio..its not unbearable loud & has the bottom naturally..can play it way lower than the Marshall's to get the goods,. its not a negative marshall thing at all..just a dif amp with many feautures designed to help the player. It is not anything like the neg gear site press..not even close.. with the right cab..anything & everything can be coaxed out of this

Will focus on Chan 2 in a bit. Really taking my time on this. Pretty crazy with all the Marshall's & mesa's here to compare..it seems to be able to cop em all & then hit the gas & do its own thing
