NA-ED: Where's the humbucker?

A buddy I trust a ton for recommendations, suggested a good Acoustic-Electric to me this morning. So, I ran down to GC on lunch - actually had a very cool sales guy help me out, kinda surprised.

I played a handful of acoustic-electrics:

Luna - never heard of them, but it looked cool, then the crap fret ends almost sliced my fingers open - they should sell a box of bandaids with those.
Ibanez - better than the Luna, but not much
Yamaha - Although it wasn't an electric-acoustic, I really liked this one, but it was not a good looking guitar at all. Left to my own devices, I'd probably hunt down the electric equivalent in a better color and buy it...
Fender - the okay-est of the bunch
Alvarez - a non electric one as I couldn't find the one I was looking for - liked it enough to keep going
And something else I can't remember...

Ran my fingers down the fret ends on about a dozen others and didn't even pick them up as they just sucked.

Sadly, they had no Taylors, or I would have tried one for sure.

but finally played this one:

After not being able to find one, I finally hunted down the sales guy, told him what I was looking for and he said it was the best in that price range they had. And, he'd just seen the Alvarez factory overseas and talked about how cool it was. He couldn't find the guitar either, then went in the back and grabbed one still in the shipping box. He tuned it up, made sure the neck looked straight, played some really, really cool finger-picking stuff on it and it sounded great.

I plunked on it for a bit, with no where near his skill level and my Big Stubby pick til I was satisfied.

20 minutes later I was on my way home with it.

With their 45 day return policy, I figure I have about a month to gel with it or take it back. And, if that happens, I might go after a Yamaha. Or, decide this was a trip down a road I don't need to travel on... who knows...

I dunno. So useful and versatile. Can almost sound like hollow jazz guitar or standard piezo. Plus a mix output or one for each Pup
Somebody needs to revisit that idea for sure.
Luna is an offshoot of Dean Guitars (actually as I recall Dean BOUGHT Luna at some point) they are nice but that alvarez is a spanking good looking beast
They had two Lunas and both were just gorgeous but both also had probably the worst fret ends I’ve ever felt. It was almost like someone went to the effort to sharpen them.

After living with the Alvarez for a while, the sharp fret ends and body thickness just became a deterrent to me wanting to play it. I went back down the rabbit hole and landed on a Yamaha APX600. There's a mom & pop guitar store about 20 minutes away and they seem to have the biggest, non-GC acoustic collection around here. Checked out their website and it said they were out of stock on this one. Called up there just to be sure, since their website isn't always up to date. The guy who answered said it was one of their #1 selling guitars and as soon as they got them, they sold them. He wasn't sure when they'd get more, cause #COVID, and so I started looking for a used one.

Came across this beauty with a luthier who has a little consignment side hustle where he'll take his clients unwanted guitars, fix em up as best as possible and sell them. Before he sent this my way, he polished it up, cleaned/filed/polished all the frets to make sure there were no sharp ends or high spots, threw a new set of strings on it and did a proper set up.

While I was chatting with him about it before I pulled the trigger, he was adamant it was only in "Good" condition and had a lot of signs of use as well as some dings/dents/scratches.
So far, other than a few minor dings in the back of the neck that I only notice if I'm looking for them, I've yet to locate anything that would put it in a worse condition category than the average guitar hanging at GC.

And, it's a good inch thinner than the Alvarez which is far more comfortable for me #oldmanbelly

Hope to get to know it better this weekend, and the Alvarez is going back to GC tomorrow.

Congratulations buddy
I am not much of an acoustic player, but if it inspires you to play it. Score
And it does look very cool, and I also prefer a slimmer acoustic.
Cheers
