I don't really understand this getting ones photos back talk.
I have my (thousands of) photos on my PC and backed up onto a removable hard drive.
My photobucket account has possibly 8 or 10 photos I wanted to show somebody who for a forgotten reason couldn't get my direct email.

I think Photobucket has some issues. I 've heard other people having issues with this site. Some kind of computer glitch or something?!

It will be interesting to see how this plays out. The powers-that-be at Photobucket certainly intentionally took the risk. Perhaps, in their minds, those of us who use them as a free image host and tolerate the advertisements are dead-weight. We're consuming server space and frantically shutting down ads as they pop up. Honestly, they are probably willing to lose us. They really aren't making any money off us unless we follow some ads.

The question is, will they lose their current paying customers who, due to the change in policy, now find themselves no longer able to use Photobucket as an image host? Will those who were paying $2.49 a month just to avoid advertisements stick around and pay even more, or will they leave? The same question applies to those who were paying more to get more storage, but now find that image linking and 3rd party hosting no longer apply to them. Will they be willing to pay even more?

That's going to be where the rubber really hits the road. My guess is that they will lose a lot of customers at the lower tier price levels. They may realize they made an error and alter course to allow linking and hosting at lower price points.

But, it's too early to really know for sure.
 
I am going to delete my account. I encourage all affected to do so. At some point their decreased user #s will be noticed by their advertisers. Adios Senor Bucket!!

To maximize the effectiveness of your cancellation, you need to send an email, via the contact link, and tell them why.

Funny. They ask for a reason - I put "other" and wrote "No more 3rd party hosting. Bye!"
 
I just canceled my $9.99 a year ad free account. I have to decide if I need any of the pics...I think not...

Wow, not me, but they did say the account would not close until 7-2. They probably make it harder on paying customers!
 
FYI, I think it is fair to ask for some payment for this service, but $ 400?! That is excessive considering many of their users are consumers and not businesses. And without warning? Harsh.
 
HELL 400 is my "gear threshold" --- i RARELY pay more for a guitar.........much less "hosting" fees........hey are those tax deductible????

I try to never use Photobucket, unless it's absolutely necessary. Navigating thru their site to do anything is full of frustrations and glitches for me. Fortunately the TTR forum site is set up for "We don't need no stinking Photobucket"
