MFNAKD... C3 SLO-100 minus 50

è finito...

I ditched the yellow colored zip ties for a much more pleasing appearance. Replaced a pair of black e-caps for a pair of blue ones. The pair of those temporary piggy-backed resistors were replaced with a single proper valued resistor. A couple preamp wires were replaced for OCD purposes.

All preamp and phase inverter tubes are JJ12AX7's. Definitely not my first choice for modern 12AX7's. Amp still sounds killer, though. And YES... With both master volumes on 3-ish, it is very loud out of a 2x12 speaker cab... :dood:

I've read other reviews that some try regular 6L6's instead, or even convert to EL34's, but to only go back to these 5881's. These Sovtek 5881s are able to handle 500 volts at the plates with no problem. Bias is set on the cool side... Soldano style!

To completely finish this project, I need to finish my attempt at a inexpensive customized one-button footswitch pedal for channel switching. Gimme a couple of days... I think y'all going to like it!

Greg Looks sweet. I found those vactrols in my Mesa 8 total
I sent the four original vactrols back to C3 Amps, and asked Rob Reeder if he could check and test them. I numbered them, 1 thru 4, relative to their installed position on the preamp board. A few days ago, Rob emailed me and said he has received them and will test them over this past weekend. Still waiting on his findings.

Do we get to hear it?
and +1 on the sound clip request!
Maybe... I'm a little hesitant about this. I'm trying to convince y'all that this amp sounds very good. My playing skills my convince you towards the opposite... :hide:

Just finished reassembling the one-button channel switching pedal after giving it with some one-of-a-kind goofy graphics. It's a Marshall-style one button with LED footswitch pedal, and it originally looked like this:

And now it looks like this:

The Marshall-style pedal is designed for certain Marshall-style switching supply voltages in the range of around 15v. My SLO-Clone amp is designed with about 3v for the switching circuit. I replaced the "Marshally" 1K current limiting resistor with a 100 Ohm resistor to compensate for the lower voltage. Works perfect!
